Lightning fast crimping - follow safety precautions when using

[Set name: C5A2 crimper * 1 +Drive shaft * 3]
I don't do a lot of HVAC work, but I do occasionally need to work with sheet metal. I recently crimped a 6-inch pipe that I had cut down to size. I used a mechanical crimping tool that looks like a pair of shears with multiple blades. It did the job, but it was a lot of work and didn't look professional or fit easily when completed. This tool is designed for use with an impact driver. The thing to understand is that this thing crimps fast. You have to use the impact driver at the lowest speed you can and be careful when using this. It can easily pull the sheet metal out of your hand, risking injury, if you do not take precautions. With proper precautions, this thing powers through crimping, allowing me to crimp a piece of sheet in mere seconds. It is a massive improvement over hand crimping!

Not that great!

[Set name: C5A2 crimper * 1 +Drive shaft * 3]
This Mrobas C5A2 Impact Power Assisted Crimper for HVAC duct doesn't impress me much. The main issue is getting the tool started on the piping. It takes a little more effort than I like to deal with. There needs to be an adjustment that lets you open it up slightly before you begin. You have to use an impact driver, which I get, because you sort of need a pause. The impact driver will give a pause, so the material won't run away from you, and it can easily do that. It comes with 3 other nut drivers, which you may or may not need. However, the Allen wrench that comes with this tool will not budge those screws! If you need to change the nut driver, you will need something a bit stronger! The price is a bit steep for this tool as well. Given the challenge I had with it. I can't give it more than 3 stars!

Great Tool For Crimping With A Learning CurveGreat Tool For Crimping With A Learning Curve

This is a tool that I've always wanted to try since I saw a Malco Turbocrimper commercial years ago. I typically use a hand crimper for my projects and while it crimps well it can be painfully slow if I need to crimp multiple ducts. First off - this tool is very well constructed - it's all metal construction and feels very solid. The action is clean and moves easily. While using the tool is fairly intuitive there are instructions included. One thing I would say is that it's difficult to use this tool freehand - it's preferable if either the tool or the medium is secured. Once activated the tool moves quickly and makes a series of fairly shallow crimps in just seconds. I used it on lightweight aluminum 4" ducting. I completed the task freehand but it was difficult to keep the tool fully engaged AND hold the ducting. I also did this while the sheet was joined (as a completed tube) and possible it would have been better to do this on a flat sheet. Overall a great tool that takes some practice. At less than half the cost of the Malco I would say it is well worth it if you do frequent duct work.

So, I saw a thing online where they hand-crimped one large soup can to fit into another. Poke a hole in both ends and stuff with sticks. Then you simply throw it in the fire. Heat from the fire will drive off water and hydrogen, leaving only carbon charcoal. You can then make char cloth for starting fires, (grape) vine charcoal for art, or biochar, which has a myriad of uses.I tried this on a regular-sized soup can, which was a little bit of a tight radius for this tool, but it did work after I cut off the lip.(Interestingly, two regular soup cans make a great pencil holder.)For the charcoal project, this should only work better on larger soup cans, gallon-sized food cans, and metal coffee cans.Or, if you want to be a weirdo about it, you could even use it for HVAC ducts like it was intended for.

I would hate to crimp a significant amount of metal by hand, so this tool should theoretically make life a little easier given that task.Overall build quality of the crimper seems quite good. The machining and weight of the main housing, the crimp gears themselves and the hex shank are all better than expected. The weight itself is a little noticeable but you won't be concerned about this much with the trade off of speed while using it.I do find the price point to be on the high side, but if you're doing a lot of metal work then it could be justifiable - so long as the tool lasts a very long time. Which, by judging it initially, I suspect it will.I wish the crimp gears were adjustable so I could control the closeness of the gears, but I'm asking for a lot. Really only to work with additional gauges but this would be few and seldom. In operation its relatively quiet; not a whole lot louder than operating your impact drill - and a lot less tiring on your hands. Do be careful to not let the metal edge run across your skin as it's moving and being pulled through the crimper.I think most users would be satisfied with it if they are okay with the price point.

Impact Power Assisted Crimper, All Metal Turbo Crimping Attachment

[Set name: C5A2 crimper * 1 +Drive shaft * 3]
Impact Power Assisted Crimper, All Metal Turbo Crimping AttachmentThis initial review is based on product inspection and feature evaluation. The heavy duty all-metal construction is a significant advantage over plastic or mixed-material crimpers commonly found in this category. Those lighter alternatives can flex, bind, or fail under continuous use, whereas this unit features a solid forged metal body with hardened chromium steel internal gears processed to HRC35-40 hardness. The all-metal structure of this HVAC duct crimping tool offers durability and resists deformation, with thickened gear blocks capable of handling long-hour heavy crimping without bending. No plastic parts means it is built to stand up to frequent HVAC ductwork jobs. The claimed 5 times faster than manual crimping tools is a standout performance advantage. Manual crimping pliers cause hand cramps and slow down workflow, but this impact power assisted design can finish a full circle duct crimp in under 30 seconds. Forward and reverse rotation allows flexible operation in narrow gaps, and the compact lightweight body allows single-hand control. The design allows easy sliding along the duct circumference without jamming metal sheets. The gear-driven extrusion delivers consistent and uniform serrated crimps around pipe edges, eliminating gaps and air leakage for precise swaging joints. The finished crimps look professional without burrs, improving ventilation system tightness. Works effectively on 30 to 24 gauge galvanized round duct, spiral air duct, and black stove pipe. The universal 1/4 inch quick-release hex shank fits cordless and corded impact drivers, compatible with minimum 12V DC battery impact drivers and up to 7A AC wired impact drills. Simple plug-and-play design with zero complicated setup.Based on face value, the all-metal construction and impact power assist set this apart from manual crimping tools and plastic alternatives. I will return to update this review after extended use regarding gear durability, crimp consistency, and overall reliability for professional HVAC applications.

I do water heater swaps as part of my property maintenance business. I mess with single wall metal flues all the time and often have to cut a random length and put a crimp on one end to join to other duct. I have a jaw style crimper that stays in my belt and I can crimp a 6" duct in about 20 seconds. That tool is around $35.Malco, a phenomenal tool maker for anyone dealing with sheet metal, came out with their TurboCrimper a while back. They were proud of their tool as once it was paired with a drill/driver, it could power crimp duct in mere seconds. Well, less than 20, anyway. At a staggering price of nearly $200, the tool got the job done, but was hard to justify for small operators like me. If I wrorked in a sheet metal shop or was a full-time HVAC mechanic, it is probably easier to justify that tool purchase. When I saw that there was a clone of Malco's tool available for about 40% of what Malco wants for their tool, I figured it was worth giving a shot. The tool works. It works well. It works with an impact driver, it also works with a drill on the high-torque setting. The trick with this tool is securing the workpiece. This tool is designed to quickly form metal with the power of a drill. Several foot pounds of torque!! You cannot just hold a piece of duct and use this tool. It will rip the duct out of your hands and throw it in your face. You may get viscious cuts from that dumb use of this tool.If your workpiece is well secured, you can easily slip this tool onto the edge or drive it onto the edge. Then its just a matter of controlling the tools motion as it makes the crimp. It works extremely well. If you can mount the tool in a vice, then you can crimp while holding the workpiece in your hand. This tool came with mediocre instructions. You are much better off looking at some online videos to see this tool in action and see how to use it than to refer to the instructions. As far as I can tell, this tool is made well enough to do the job. It is NOT as nice as a Malco. The crimps are not as deep, but it does work and get the job done. They made the gears and jaws just good enough to work.I am glad to have this tool. It works as expected but your results may vary. Use with caution.

**Title:** An absolute game-changer that has completely revolutionized my HVAC ductwork and sheet metal fabrication workflow**Review:**This Mrobas C5A2 impact power-assisted crimper has proven to be an absolutely incredible addition to my professional tool kit, and it has performed exceptionally well right out of the box during my recent commercial HVAC installation projects. It attaches seamlessly and securely to my standard 1/4" hex chuck impact driver, allowing me to produce clean, uniform, and professional-grade crimps on various gauges of sheet metal ductwork with virtually zero physical effort compared to traditional methods. Before I integrated this automatic turbo crimper attachment into my daily routine, manual hand-crimping was consistently the most tedious, repetitive, and taxing part of my entire installation process, frequently leading to significant hand fatigue and unnecessary time-consuming delays. Since I started using this tool, it has completely streamlined my workflow and drastically increased my overall efficiency on the job site, allowing me to complete runs in a fraction of the time. The build quality is genuinely impressive; the unit feels incredibly sturdy, durable, and handles round downspouts and gutter materials with total ease without binding or slipping. I would enthusiastically recommend this to any HVAC contractor or serious DIY enthusiast looking to save their hands from strain while simultaneously cutting down on their project turnaround time. It provides a fantastic return on investment given the high level of precision, speed, and consistent performance it delivers every single time I pull the trigger.
