This wall outlet is a very useful upgrade for a modern home. The 65W USB-C charging is convenient for powering phones, tablets, and other devices without needing a separate charger. The outlet feels well made, and the included wall plate gives it a clean finished look. I also like having both USB-C and USB-A ports in one place. Installation was straightforward, and it has been a great space-saving addition.

Convenient

This USB wall outlet feels like a true step into the modern era, since built-in charging ports are practically essential these days unless you want to keep dozens of power blocks lying around. The charging speed is impressive and quick, thanks to the capable GaN power delivery system.Installation is just as straightforward as replacing any other standard outlet, though keep in mind that the unit goes a bit deeper into the electrical box, requiring some careful wire organization to fit snugly. The heavy-duty construction and high-grade materials inspire real confidence in its long-term durability, ensuring it handles daily plugging and unplugging with ease. Between the convenience of fast direct USB charging, the tamper-resistant safety features, and the UL listing, it makes for a fantastic and practical upgrade to any room.

I was genuinely impressed with this outlet. The built-in GaN USB charging ports make a huge difference, providing fast charging without the need for bulky wall adapters. It's a clean, efficient solution that frees up the standard outlets for other devices. The overall quality feels excellent. Installation was straightforward, and everything needed—including the wall plate—is included. Once installed, it looks like a standard receptacle while adding the convenience of both USB-C Power Delivery and a USB-A port. What surprised me most is how practical it is. After using this one, I could easily see myself replacing many of the standard outlets throughout my house with these. It's a simple upgrade that adds everyday convenience, and the combination of fast charging, solid construction, and good value makes it an easy recommendation.

Slight discount vs. big box storeSlight discount vs. big box store

Here’s an outlet that offers you a USB C PD port as well as a USB A, while keeping your 2 Nema 5-20/5-15 ports. The product installation was fairly seamless, but can be a little fussy. The live and neutral terminals only have one post, but they both accept 2 wires. It’s likely expected that you should wire nut your incoming and outgoing wires, with some pigtails for this outlet. But I tested this outlet with the incoming and outgoing wires both under the terminals and ran a heavy AC load downstream. I’ve had no issues of heating or voltage sag over the last week. The GND terminal is odd, and takes some getting used to. Unlike your standard GND terminal where you wrap the GND wire around the bolt, this you insert like the live/neutral. The bolt and clamp are reversed as well vs what you’d expect, so you need to have the outlet facing down when you insert the GND wire (bolt loosened first), then crank down. Be sure to pull test to make sure you pushed it in far enough. The outlet does come with a smooth plate that snaps on. But as it does not match any of my other covers, a standard decora plate also fits perfectly fine. This does have the tamper resistant outlet protectors, which I was unable to remove. If you have kids, or a reason for these, there’s that. And the bite of the connector is good. Not commercial grade 5-20 good, but slightly better from your standard residential 5-20 plug.USB power output is also as advertised. I was running the USB-C and USB-A at the same time with a heavy load, and no issues. This outlet makes a great replacement for an existing outlet where you need USB plugs. Just wish the price were a little better. It’s a few dollars cheaper than the box store, but a little more than other options. But without comparing to those other options, I can’t comment on the quality differences.

🔌 Versatile and compact🔌 Versatile and compact

This is a review of "VAV 65W USB Wall Outlet".Few years ago I started retrofitting my several of my outlets with 2 x USB-A so I didn't have to waste the space with adapters. And this was great until recently when industry standardized on USB-C.While many of old peripherals still use USB-A, many tablets/phones and other fast-charging smart devices have switched to USB-C standard.✅ The "VAV 65W USB Wall Outlet" is perfect for my home and yours - where we have mix of old and new devices.✅ In addition to being a regular 120v receptacle (2x outlets)...✅ It also has USB-A for your legacy devices✅ And it has USB-C for newer power-hungry appliances✅ Eliminates need for unnecessary adapters✅ It has "TR" logo (tamper resistant) -- meaning kids cannot easily insert fork, or small metal parts✅ It comes with push-wall plate (no visible screw on the outside). For me, I'll be installing this over an existing outlet with 2 receptacle, so I would not need the wall plate.ℹ️ Install should take ~10 minutes if you know what you're doing.ℹ️ Do take all safety precautions if you are installing this on your ownThe VAV 65W USB Wall Outlet is priced reasonably. So I would certainly buy again.

Easy way to add USB A and USB C connections - but make sure line is rated for 20A

[Number of Items: 1]
This product integrates both USB C and USB A connections into a standard receptacle. Note that this receptacle is rated for 20A (the reason one of the connections has a horizontal and vertical opening), so it is against code to use it with a line powered from a 15A circuit (which is most common in homes). The receptacle will accept either a 15A or 20A plug, so you don’t want to use it with 15A circuit and have someone mistakenly plug in a 20A device and create a hazard. The receptacle will likely be larger than what is being replaced, so make sure there is enough clearance in the electrical outlet box (module is 1.75 inches deep). The product bears the ETL mark which is essentially the same as a UL listing (Electrical Testing Laboratories vs Underwriters Laboratories), so the product should be safe is used as per the instructions. This product is a handy way to get USB A and USB C connections without having to lose the use of your AC receptacles.

The Ultimate Outlet for Laptop Users and Blazing Fast Charging

)First Impressions & Build QualityUpgrading traditional wall outlets to include built-in USB ports has always been a smart move, but older models typically maxed out at a sluggish 10 to 15 watts—barely enough to slow-charge a modern smartphone. The VAV 65W USB Wall Receptacle completely changes the game by utilizing advanced GaN (Gallium Nitride) technology. Out of the box, the build quality feels dense, robust, and highly commercial-grade. The inclusion of a matching screwless wall plate is an excellent touch, giving the finished installation a completely clean, modern aesthetic. 65W GaN Fast Charging PerformanceTrue Laptop Charging: Thanks to the built-in GaN chip, the USB-C port delivers a massive 65W Power Delivery (PD) output when used solo. This is powerful enough to completely eliminate your bulky laptop power brick. It charges a MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, Dell XPS, or a Lenovo ThinkPad at full speed directly from the wall.Dual Port Smart Allocation: When utilizing both the USB-C and USB-A ports simultaneously, the smart identification chip automatically and dynamically splits the power safely. It efficiently fast-charges a phone and a tablet together without dropping power or overheating. No Wall Wasted: Because the charging components are shrunk down via GaN tech, you get maximum wattage without sacrificing the availability of the standard AC plugs.Heavy Duty 20A Receptacle & Safety Features20A 125V Rating: Unlike standard 15A residential outlets, this is rated for 20 Amps. This heavy-duty commercial specification makes it perfect for high-demand zones like kitchens, workshops, home offices, and garage benches where you might operate high-powered appliances like air fryers, space heaters, or power tools.Tamper-Resistant (TR): The receptacle features internal safety shutters that physically block foreign objects (like keys or hairpins) from being inserted into the slots. It's a vital, code-compliant child safety feature that works automatically. Safety Certifications: It is UL Listed, meaning it has undergone rigorous independent safety testing to meet strict electrical standards, giving you complete peace of mind.Installation NotesDeep Housing: Because it houses a high-powered 65W charging transformer inside, the body of the receptacle is physically deeper than a standard, basic wall outlet. It fits perfectly into standard electrical boxes, but if you have a shallower box packed with thick wiring, you'll want to take your time tucking the lines neatly behind the unit during installation. What's Good:True 65W Power Delivery: Powerful enough to fast-charge laptops, iPads, and smartphones directly from the wall. Premium GaN Technology: Exceptional power conversion efficiency that generates significantly less heat. Heavy-Duty 20A Rating: Handles power-hungry household appliances and tools safely.Tamper-Resistant Outlets: Shuttered design provides excellent child-proofing and safety.Sleek Finish: Included screwless wall plate offers a high-end, clean appearance. What to Keep in Mind:Box Clearance: Ensure you have adequate space in your wall box to accommodate the deeper profile of the fast-charging housing.Final VerdictThe VAV 65W GaN USB Wall Outlet is an absolute home run for clearing up clutter on countertops, desks, and nightstands. It eliminates the constant hunt for charging bricks by putting robust, laptop-capable power right into a heavy-duty, ultra-safe 20A receptacle. Whether you are remodeling a modern home office or upgrading your kitchen hub, this premium outlet is a phenomenal upgrade. Highly recommended!

Add USB ports to your outlets whenever you can

[Number of Items: 1]
Almost every outlet I replace these days gets one with USB ports on it. So many things seem to be powered with a USB plug and wall wart. It's nice to have it natively part of the outlet, and in some cases I've eliminated power strips with these types of outlets. The USB C PD standard gets you up to 65 watts, which is plenty for all but maybe a gaming laptop. Having both types of USB gives you flexibility for what goes where. There are cheap adapters online if you need to go from one to another. I usually keep a few around. I prefer outlets with two high power USB C ports and using an adapter to get USB A if necessary, but those are much more expensive and this is cost effective especially for places where you aren't charging a lot of devices on a regular basis. The one thing to look out for is that this receptacle is a chonker. It is about as large on the back as a GFCI receptacle. It does have the screw down clamp connectors which help with box clutter and are a much better option than push in ones. It also comes with a new decora trim plate.
