I've been using this soldering mat for several weeks now, and I am extremely impressed with the quality. It has made a huge difference in keeping me organized while I'm working on projects with lots of tiny parts.The small compartments are one of my favorite features. They're perfect for keeping track of tiny screws, fuses, and other components when I'm working on things like cell phones, remotes, jewelry, and other small projects. I'm notorious for dropping tiny screws and then spending forever trying to find them, so having designated spaces where everything stays put has been fantastic.I've also put the heat resistance of this mat to the test. I've used it while soldering and have rested a hot soldering iron, glue gun, heat gun, and even a small iron on it. After several weeks of use, I haven't noticed any heat damage to the mat.It's also fantastic for working with adhesives. I've gotten hot glue, super glue, and E3000 on it, and once everything dries, it peels right off instead of permanently sticking to the surface. That makes cleanup incredibly easy.Another feature I really appreciate is the row of small holes for holding precision tools. I can place my tools upright in them, and they actually stay put. Even better, when I pull a tool back out, the mat doesn't lift up with it. That's especially important when I have several of those little compartments loaded with screws and other tiny parts that I definitely don't want flying across the room.This has quickly become my favorite work mat. I originally intended to use it primarily for soldering, but I've found it useful for repairs, crafting, jewelry work, and all kinds of precision projects. I could easily see it being useful for beadwork and other hobbies where keeping track of tiny pieces is important.The quality and functionality are excellent, especially for the price. It's durable, heat resistant, easy to clean, and incredibly useful for staying organized.

For active soldering work I use a metal 5" by 9" steel cutting board plate. By placing a my metal plate in the center provides an ideal surface while maintaining full organization around the workspace. I never feel good about putting a soldering iron on silicone.

I've been waiting to get my hands on one of these silicone work pads for a while, and I must admit, I'm definitely not disappointed. I do quite a lot of small electronics work along with micro soldering, and I always dread the cleanup after a long soldering session. Not to mention the number of times I've actually burned things around my desk, because the soldering iron slightly shifted in its place. This mat solves all of that. It has tons of spaces to put your tools in small parts. It has a whole bunch of little spots for organizing screws along with magnets to hold bigger screws in place. And lastly, being made of silicone, if your soldering iron touches any part of the mat itself, it shouldn't burn it, as silicone has a surprisingly high melting temperature, so it should keep your desk both safe and burn-free. The price seems to fluctuate between $17 and $12, but at either price I'd say it's well worth the investment if you do any small work as it does help immensely with organization and cleanliness along with all the spots for small tools or accessories. There are also magnets embedded inside the silicon, which can help in certain scenarios. Though for me they're mostly useless. So, I definitely recommend this pad for the price and its versatility, I'd say it's more than fairly priced.

It's given me total peace of mind that I'm not scorching my bench or melting anything underneath, which is exactly what I needed.The magnetic sections are genuinely brilliant. ​I am incredibly impressed with the layout and sheer utility of this Dorisun soldering mat. With its generous 17.7" x 11.8" footprint, it completely transforms a chaotic workspace into an organized repair hub. The built-in parts compartments and magnetic zones are an absolute lifesaver when you are tearing down a phone or laptop, keeping tiny, easy-to-lose screws exactly where you need them. It is also worth highlighting that, as the seller transparently claims in the description, this is not an ESD anti-static mat. If you are working on highly sensitive components, you will want to pair it with a proper grounding wrist strap, but for general soldering and tear-downs, it is a phenomenal deal on a great mat.​My only minor critique is that the silicone thickness varies quite a bit across the layout. The bottom of some of the small hardware compartments and individual screw slots are noticeably thin, so you will want to be mindful during high-heat tasks. As long as you make sure to do your actual soldering on the thicker, flat main work areas, the 932°F heat resistance holds up perfectly and keeps your underlying workbench safe from burns. For the price, the sheer amount of organization it offers makes it a highly recommended addition to any maker's bench.

I'm a serious crafter, I mean not just gluing felt pieces together or painting flowers on postcards.... this includes extreme things like making book-nook miniature room boxes with working lights and flickering fireplaces, motorized components, audio sources and Arduino coded control boards. I learned to solder because of what I wanted to do in a book-nook.Anyway, this Silicone Soldering Mat is something that I wish I had found a few years ago, and am thrilled to have it now. It is the right size for a work surface, big enough to have elbow room but contained enough to keep everything close by. There is a molded ridge around the edges, which keeps things from being lost outside of the work zone, plus the silicone material keeps objects from moving... when you set something down it will stay where you put it.I like the various design elements of the work surface, the various shapes of the tool and parts areas. Yes, this design is great for soldering projects, but I'm thinking beyond that (I actually only solder a couple of times a year).I'm thinking that I will use one of the three sections that have an attached cover to hold some of the glue I use for some assembly work when I just need a smidge here or there. It would be handy to have an easily accessible glue area right there.So I'm looking forward to using this work mat when doing projects with melted wax (like paws for needle felted critters). It has plenty of room for the wax melter and shaping tools, with still lots of room for working and forming the pieces. Any wax that gets on the surface would come right off of the silicone, so WIN/WIN.Oh, I almost forgot to mention that it has magnetic areas (the round section at the top right, the ribbed section and the top middle, and two of the trapezoid areas on the right border). These are really good for small screws or metal beads that want to roll away.All in all, this is an excellent design and a great working space.
