I tested the AceWelder MIG-140T using 0.8 mm / .030-inch E71T-GS flux-core wire on mild steel. I did not test the stick/MMA, lift-TIG, or 0.9 mm flux-core functions, so this review is limited to the .030 flux-core mode.Full disclosure: I am a beginner welder. I had only welded once before using this machine, so part of my testing involved learning basic gun angle, travel speed, wire stick-out, and how to balance voltage with wire feed.For a machine in roughly the $70 price range, I was pleasantly surprised by how well it performed.Setup took some learning. The supplied manual covers the basics, but I would not consider the manual especially beginner-friendly. Loading the wire, understanding polarity, and learning how the controls interact required some trial and error. Once I had the .030 flux-core wire loaded correctly and the settings reasonably dialed in, however, the machine fed wire consistently and produced usable welds on mild steel.During practice, I started with poor-looking beads, a lot of spatter, and inconsistent travel. As I learned to maintain a better gun angle and steady travel speed, and adjusted the wire feed and voltage, the welds improved considerably. By the end of the session I was able to make continuous beads and successfully join two pieces of fairly heavy steel.The welder ran from a 120V 20-amp household circuit during my testing without tripping the breaker. I did not attempt to run the machine at maximum output for extended periods, and the manual lists a considerably higher rated input current at full load, so buyers should understand that maximum performance may require more electrical capacity than a typical household circuit can provide.One thing I noticed is that the included flux-core wire produced quite a bit of spatter. Some of that was certainly my technique as a beginner, but I suspect higher-quality wire could improve the welding experience further.The machine itself is compact, lightweight, and easy to move around the shop. The controls are simple enough once you understand what they do, and for light fabrication, repairs, and occasional garage use, it appears quite capable.Considering the price, I think this welder performed very well. It is not a professional shop machine, and an experienced welder may quickly find its limitations, but for someone who wants an inexpensive entry into flux-core welding and have additional ability to stick weld or TIG all in a compact machine for occasional repairs, it offers a lot of capability for the money.One con/caution: It came with a welding "shield" (not a helmet) that has no adjustments or a test mode to determine if it is still functioning. I personally considered it to be unusable and did not want to rely on it for protecting my eyes and surrounding skin on my face from spatter. Buyer make your own decision.The unit did not come with welding gloves, which are very important so make note of that.

This budget friendly is great to learn on and light duty uses. It is small and lightweight ideal to grab and go. It can plug into most 110 outlets on a 15-amp line. It has a 30 percent duty cycle allowing up to 3 out of 10 minutes use. I used this welder with the supplied flux wire to repair a rusted weld on a wrought iron chair. I took the time to grinds down the rust to give a clean welding point. After painting it I hope to get several more years from this chair. The welder for its price was surprising how well it did. For the price I can except that the Mig gun is hard wired. Not sure if a replacement can be acquired along with some form if disassembly needed. Even if not replaceable it still can-do stick welding.The included shield only covers the front no side protection. It seams a little slow to darken but does work. The slag from the included 0.8 Flux wire is average. Not the cleanest and not the messiest. Does clean up with the included wire brush and slag hammer. It also comes with replacement tips size 0.8 and 0.9 along with a dual size feed roller.

This welder was packaged well for shipping. It looks great and seems to be well made, especially considering the sale price. I use it on some 16 gage steel and it worked quite well. Just to test its power capability, I turned it up high and was able to burn through, so it should work well on material that is a bit thicker. The included auto darkening weld helmit is more of a face shielf than a conventional helmit, but it works very well for smaller jobs or in tight spaces.The only reason I didn't rate it higher is that I thought it would tig weld right out of the box. The accessories required for tig welding are not included.

My sons and I spent a weekend playing with this. I was pretty impressed with it. It's great for lots of little repairs and fabrications around the home. I hadn't had any kind of welder in a good while, and I am always thinking of repairs, upgrades, and small fabrications I could use. But my local pro wants $100 minimum to do any job, and most of mine aren't going to save me that much. This is a good, compact, portable solution to those little issues. Not to mention fun.

The three-in-one capability caught my eye because I occasionally do stick welding too and didn't want two machines taking up space.Likes:* The synergy mode is really useful. I dialed in my wire diameter and the machine set the voltage and feed speed on its own. The bead I laid on my first pass was clean and consistent.* It's zippy to set up. I was running beads maybe ten minutes after opening the box. Everything you need is in there including flux core wire and a helmet.* I ran it on some thicker scrap I had and it chewed through perfectly on the heat side. Didn't expect that from something this compact.* The helmet isn't a fancy auto-darkening unit by any stretch, but it darkens fast and the headband fits my large head without flopping around.No likes:* The MIG gun feels a little flimsy. The plastic on the handle has some flex to it and I'm not super confident it'll survive rough handling.* The duty cycle is screwy if you push it hard. I was running longer beads on thicker material and it kicked into thermal protection pretty quick. For light work its fine, but this is not a production machine.Would I pay full price for this product: Yes, for occasional home use.Final thoughts: This is a bonkers amount of welder for the money if your needs are light to medium. The flux core performance is the real story here; the TIG and stick modes are functional but feel secondary. Don't buy this expecting to run it all day on heavy plate.
