That higher cost is more understandable if you’re mounting permanent sections into wood framing rather than using a simple freestanding rack.They’re pretty straightforward to install if you have basic DIY experience. The instructions are a bit vague, but mounting the hardware is mostly common sense once you look at the pieces. Each section is rated for 350 lb capacity. That number is realistic if the load is distributed carefully, but the wire shelving will sag if you overload a single section, so plan your weight placement accordingly.I ordered these for utility shelving in a shed with exposed 2x4 wood framing. Mounting was easy and very secure — I used lag bolts directly into the wood. Once installed they feel solid and should hold up well for general storage, tools, and supplies.Overall a practical, sturdy option for garage, shed, or workshop shelving when you need something stronger than light-duty wire units. These are solid metal shelves. Installation was fairly easy, but whoever designed these mist and important point: the majority of residential buildings in the US have studs which are spaced 16 inches on center. The drilling template which comes with the shelves has markings for 18, 24, and 32 inches, but not 16. Doh!I only other complaint is that the manufacturing tolerances for the shelves aren't great. I used a laser level to drill the holes at precisely the same height, but the horizontal supports on the brackets wound up at various different heights. More precise construction would have made the shelves easy to install perfectly level.

I bought these heavy-duty wall shelves to clear up some much-needed floor space in my garage. Rather than speculate about long-term performance, I'll share what I observed after unpacking and inspecting everything.The first thing that stood out is how substantial these shelves feel. The shelves themselves are made from heavy-gauge steel with a durable looking black powder coated finish that should hold up well in a garage environment. The wall brackets are equally robust and don't feel flimsy or lightweight.The kit comes with everything needed for installation, including lag screws, wall anchors, mounting hardware, a small level, and clear instructions. The instructions are easy to follow, although as with any wall-mounted shelving, the most time consuming part will likely be locating studs, deciding on shelf placement, and making sure everything is level before drilling.I also appreciate the shelf depth. They appear large enough to fully support common storage totes instead of leaving them hanging over the edge, which should make them much more practical for organizing tools, seasonal items, and shop supplies.One thing worth mentioning is that these are individual shelf sections rather than a modular continuous shelving system. Basically, the only thing that you really have to be sure of when you are installing the shelves, is of course you absolutely must be certain that you are anchoring them down into studs. Especially if you have drywall or particle board or even plywood for your wall structure. You have to be absolutely sure that you are screwing the shelf braces down into the studs that are back behind the wall! If you are not absolutely sure that you're connecting to a stud, I highly recommend getting yourself a stud finder, which is just a small handheld, electronic device that you rub all over your wall, and it will beep and alert you when it's on top of a stud.What I had to do, so that I would have studs at exactly the correct areas, was remove the particle board sheets from building wall, where I planned to hang the shelves. I simply took the sheet of particle board down, where I wanted to hang my shelf. I then put my own studs in there, I used 2x4s, which is the same thing that was already used for framing the building. But I just had to add a couple of 2x4s for each shelf, so that they would be in the exact right location. Replaced the particle board sheet, and then I was able to hang my shelving over the particle board wall. This way I was absolutely sure that I was connecting with the studs on both ends of the shelf braces. I had to do this on both opposite sides of the building because I hung two of my shelves close together on one side and two of them on the opposite side, right across from the first two.If you know your building structure really well and you already have the studs in just the right location, then you won't have to go through all that. On my building, the studs were not going to be where I needed them to be unless I put some extra ones in there myself, so that's what I had to do.The shelves are really well made, there nice and stout and durable. They're made out of some good quality material, and I would definitely say that they are built to last! Once you are absolutely sure that you have the shells hung properly, and that they are anchored into your studs really well, they definitely have a really high weight capacity! I probably have over 150 lb on one of myself and close to 100 on another one, and I'm not one bit worried about anything giving out on me or collapsing.In my opinion the asking price for these shelves is really fair and reasonable! I would absolutely recommend this product to my friends and family!!
