This item should work as advertised ... except that the heart shape makes me wonder if this product had a different original use. The heart shape, I think, would work best for some sort of support/stability with the "pull" to either side rather than the "pull" in the middle. Given the size, length and shape of these hooks, I plan to use them by installing them in the support beam on the porch where they will be parallel to the ground. That clip on one side can be difficult to push open and is, in every case, attached along the screw and positioned at different points. Not sure why that is. I will install with the clip at the top.The instructions on the ad show the hooks being inserted, with the sheetrock plugs attached, into solid wood. That makes no sense. No matter, I do not plan to use these hooks on sheetrock on any wall or ceiling. While the hooks themselves look sturdy enough, the plugs, in my limited experience, might not work well. I won't take the chance. Also, the heart shape means that the center, when hung perpendicular to the floor (in the ceiling), will be in the center, which normally would be the low point but in this case would be higher than both sides.

I really love the looks of these heart hooks. I like that they are functional and attractive looking. They are definitely sturdier than I initially thought as sometimes it's hard to tell from pictures. You can tell that these are quality made. I like the carabiner closure. I initially purchased these heart-shaped hooks to add some fun to my under deck lighting. The closure allows for me to take down the lights easily should I need to. I was really happy to find out that they are rust proof which will be perfect as under my deck is not completely weatherproofed. My favorite part of these besides the unique look that they give is that the installation is easy. The included bit attachment was an amazing plus. I found the size of the hooks to be perfect for what I need them for. They are great quality and can be used in a variety of ways. I like that they included plastic wall anchors should you want to install them somewhere with. I have a hanging pendant lamp that is relatively lightweight that these would work perfect. For the most part, for such needs, I have generally used screw hooks of varying sizes depending on the task at hand, but these heart hooks cover a broader swath of scenarios as they are strong enough to support more than just light-duty items, wide enough for more than just small stuff, and, with the built-in clasp to secure the inside region, they can even be used to hold up cords and string without fear of it slipping out of the inner-circumference area. Their shiny black finish makes them fit in better in finished areas of the house, interior and exterior, and their “heart” shape adds a bit of a decorative touch as well. Just from observation, based on their apparent strength, when fastened correctly, I don’t doubt the described assertion that each can support up to 40 lbs of weight, making them ideal for hanging plants, particularly around exterior porches.
