Thus far, this appears to be a quality tool. The machined ends are well honed. When I used it, it did not transfer excessive vibration to my hand. The grip is rubberized - it has the right amount of tack, and helps mute feedback, but doesn't have excessive squish so I can maintain appropriate control. There's no weird smell or oil or leftovers from the manufacturing process, as is typical of cheaper tools. This is a good hammer.

I ordered this hammer to help with assembly of my ATV that I was repairing. This is a great perm/dead blow hammer. The handle his easy to hold and has a comfortable grip. This is definitely not like your father's old school ball peen hammer.I really hated to use it because I didn't want it to get nicked or damaged. Seems to be made from good quality materials and expect it to last for many years

The ball and peen striking surfaces of this hammer have pretty standard contours. Other than the steel surfaces, the head is completely wrapped in tough molded polyurethane plastic. The top has a flat shape that allows it to stand upright, which can be handy. The plastic molded head has a larger profile than a traditional all steel ball peen hammer, making it seem bulky. There could be situations where the width of the head will make it difficult to place a blow in a narrow space . . . and I find it a bit more difficult to accurately aim. Of course, the wider head also allows for it to be shot-filled with the advantage of less rebound. The handle on this Real Steel hammer is excellent. The thermoplastic rubber is nicely textured, so it is comfortable to hold, yet easy to get a good grip on. A textured section where your thumb naturally rests provides a tactile indication that the peen head is aimed forward. The bright blue sections at the end and upper sections of the handle and the head make the hammer easy to find in the midst of a cluttered work area. I still like my traditional ball peen hammers better, but this one has earned a place hanging in my equipment shed. Despite being put off a bit by the bulky head profile . . .This tool earns my very good rating.
