I tested this on 25-gauge (.020") polished copper sheet before using it on an actual project, and this was my first time using this style of handheld sheet-metal bender. I came away impressed with how convenient it is.A proper brake is still easier if you have the space for one, but that's also the problem with a brake. It takes up significant storage space and usually needs a dedicated surface where it can be bolted or clamped down. I've also used brake pliers, and this gave me a much more consistent bend than I've been able to get with those.The process does take several progressive passes to reach the final angle. The important part is keeping the edge of the sheet flat against the mating surface of the bender as you move along the bend. I found the measurements on the rail accurate, the handle gives plenty of leverage, and the bearings roll very smoothly. I did need to clamp or otherwise hold the sheet down so it stayed flat while I worked, but once I got the technique down, maintaining a consistent bend was straightforward.There is a bit of a learning curve, especially with a highly polished material like the copper I was testing. On a couple of early attempts where I wasn't careful about keeping the sheet properly seated, I rolled slightly off my bend line and scratched the polished surface. The marks weren't actual damage and could be polished out, but this tool will leave some visible marking around the bend even when used correctly. That's worth considering if you're working with a finished surface that needs to remain pristine.Build quality is excellent. The anodizing on the aluminum body is even and well applied, and all of the metal surfaces I've handled are smooth and free of burrs, with appropriate parts polished where needed. The removable handle attaches with a substantial bolt that feels more than capable of handling the repeated stress of bending over time. Nothing about the tool feels flimsy or poorly finished.For me, the biggest advantage is the form factor. It gives me much more control and consistency than brake pliers without asking me to find permanent shop space for a sheet-metal brake. It takes multiple passes and some attention to technique, so a brake is still the easier option when one is available. For occasional sheet-metal work where storage space matters, though, I found this surprisingly convenient and effective.

This tool is well made including a sturdy frame and quality rollers. After that, it gets a bit murky. The included one page manual includes no instructions for how the tool is to be used. I was able, with some difficulty, to find an online video from a different manufacturer of the same tool. Evidently, this tool is designed to make straight bends in thin sheet metal. I was able to set it up and put a 90 degree bend in some copper sheet I had on hand. The tool works sort of like a rolling sheet metal plier. You make the bend by levering on the tool, bending a bit at a time as you slide back and forth.The bend I was left with was not crisp, but instead quite rounded. Just for comparison, I made a similar bend in the other side of my sheet using nothing but a cheap vise and a cheaper dead blow hammer. Using that method took 50% longer but yielded a better 90 degree angle. On the attached picture, the sheet metal bending tool made angle is on the right, my hammer and vise on the left.If you know how to use this bender and this type of bender will meet your needs, this seems to be well made. Without instructions, and with a little testing, I don’t think it’s particularly useful to me.
