Roof Whirlybird Turbine Vent Adapter

This adapter was a great fit for our 40’ storage container. It was so hot we needed additional ventilation. This unit allowed us to install a turbine top to it and get a good watertight seal. If you can get the container cut, the easy part is installation.

This is a clever solution for adding ventilation to a shipping container without having to fabricate a custom mounting plate from scratch. The base is shaped to work with the corrugated container roof while giving you a proper flat mounting surface for an 8-inch turbine or similar round vent.The construction feels appropriate for an exterior application, and the black rust-resistant finish gives it a clean, finished appearance. More importantly, the purpose-built shape eliminates a lot of cutting, bending, and trial-and-error that would otherwise be involved in getting a conventional roof vent to sit properly on a container.I also like that it isn't limited strictly to a Whirlybird. Being able to use it with other 8-inch round vents gives you some flexibility depending on how much ventilation you need.Just be aware that this is the mounting adapter only and the actual turbine isn't included.Overall, it's a simple product, but it solves a very specific problem extremely well and can save quite a bit of fabrication time.

Perfect! I have a container that has to be left open due to condensation here in FL and anything in there has to be waterproof or in a container that can get wet. Hubs and I had looked at the great big Corrugated Roof piece that holds and electric vent fan. Hmmm . . . $500+ was off our budget. When I saw this, I was thrilled. It can use a wind turbine and help with air exchange to reduce the moisture. Probably not a perfect solution, but better than nothing. It is made of pretty sturdy metal. Now all I have to do is buy the turbine and find a handyman to install it. I'm 77 and NOT getting on the roof of anything over 2 ft.It fits the corrugation pattern so all I'll have to do is give the handyman the sealant and a BIG drill to punch a hole. The main things I was worried about was the fit to the corrugations and the price. Much cheaper that the big vent piece.

This adapter matched my Conex roof ribs exactly – no gaps, no welding, just bolt it on in 10 minutes. Paired with a 12" turbine, airflow improved instantly; condensation and that musty smell are gone. Steel is thick, powder coat looks durable, and it's survived heavy rain without rust.
