I really like this pocket folder. It opens smoothly and quickly and has a solid heft to it. Not too heavy, but enough weight to make it feel substantial. The locking mechanism works perfectly, you don't have to worry about the blade slipping at all, it's rock solid. The blade is the perfect length for usability and utility. Shipped plenty sharp and nicely oiled. There was a lot of attention paid to the entire package. I'm looking forward to putting this knife to the test and see how well it holds up. I will update this review accordingly. Overall this is a fantastic pocket knife that I highly recommend to anyone that needs to strike a good balance between quality and affordability.

This folding pocket knife is impressively well made and feels solid right out of the box. The D2 steel blade arrives very sharp and maintains a clean edge through regular everyday tasks. Seriously; buy it.This is the best EDC knife I have ever owned and it instantly became my favorite pocket knife. The fold-out mechanism is butter smooth, as are the auto-lock and its release mechanism. The handle is comfortable to hold and the entire knife has a solid feel to it that speaks of decades of loyal service. The finger guard and slightly textured handle make for a steady, slip-free grip.The tanto-style blade is not only lovely to look upon, but also arrived very sharp. The entire knife is solidly built, attractive, and functional. The fact that the belt clip can be placed on either side is a nice touch, as is the built-in lanyard hole.It arrived in a very nice box and included a cleaning cloth. Now, part of me thinks that might be a little silly - I want the knife to be a knife - NMBT totally nailed that, so what do I care about the pretty box? But at the same time, this knife would make a very fine gift for an outdoorsman (or woman) you love, and viewed from that angle, the packaging sure doesn't hurt.For a knife of this quality, I feel that the price point is fair.

This blade has quickly become my go-to EDC knife. The overall design is gorgeous with the all black design and bronze accents. The blade centering is perfect and the he blade is made of D2 steel with a black oxidized finish. It's just a really gorgeous knife.It came relatively sharp out of the box, but I was able to get it quite a bit sharper on a fixed angle system. Its edge retention is quite a bit better than I expected for D2 steel. Some people say its not worth it to buy a knife like this over like the Ozark Trails sub $15 knife because they use the same steel, but there's a night and day difference in the heat treatment. I have an SK tools D2 knife and it can't even come close to the edge retention and sharpness this knife provides. There's a reason this knife is more expensive. The tanto style blade profile really is perfect for my needs and creates a razor sharp tip.The crossbar mechanism is fantastic and it easily closes and opens with one hand. Out of the box it came a bit tighter than I prefer, but it was easily remedied by loosening the pivot screw. It has a .45 cal inspired thumb stud which just really looks gorgeous with the all black knife. Not only does it look good, but I was surprised how nice of a thumb stud it is functionally. It really feels good to open the knife with that thumb stud. The knurling on the outside makes it highly functional. It also has a reversible pocket clip and a lanyard hole.Overall I am beyond thrilled with the quality of this knife and I hope to order more knives from this brand in the future. This knife has everything I could ask for in a knife. It's beautiful, it has an awesome opening mechanism, it holds an edge well and most importantly it's affordable.

I was honestly impressed by the quality of this folding knife. The fit and finish are much better than I expected, and it feels like a much more expensive knife when handling it. The size makes it practical to carry while still having a solid, capable feel in hand.The D2 blade came sharp and the tanto shape gives it a strong, useful profile for everyday tasks and outdoor use. The G10 handle provides a secure grip, and the crossbar lock engages confidently with smooth operation. The overall construction feels sturdy, with good attention to detail in the machining, blade action, and materials.For the price, the quality stands out. It has the kind of build and feel that makes it enjoyable to use rather than just something to keep as a backup tool. I carry a knife quite often, usually a 3" folding blade. My brother does product photography for high end knife companies so I've had a chance to handle many high quality pieces over the years. I appreciate good quality and tight tolerances along with a sharp cutting edge. This 3-1/2" unit from NMBT has a good heft and a quality feel, especially considering the reasonable asking price. The hinge is nice and tight. It locks up solidly. The fit and finish of everything is excellent. This is a little on the large side for EDC but it certainly works. I've been carrying it for the past few days without really noticing it. I do have a couple of critiques: First, the ergonomics are not amazing. The handle is not what I'd call uncomfortable but it does have a few corners and protrusions that don't fit perfectly in the hand. I will say that the belt clip is reversible, which clip can be the cause of some minor discomfort during use. The second thing is very minor, which is the slight corner on the blade's profile. This area will get dull faster and make sharpening a bit tricky. Otherwise this is a great knife all around. The brass looking disc on top of the blade, as other reviewers have noted, is a little cheesy with its 45 ACP logo. It provides a nice place for you thumb when opening one-handed, and you can also place your thumb on top of it when pushing the blade away from you like when you are sharpening a stick. After using it a few times I don't even notice the lettering. Overall a good quality knife at a reasonable price.

The NMBT Chop2 Folding EDC Pocket Knife is a solid knife. The blade releases and closes smoothly yet locks solidly in place when completely opened or closed. It has a carbon fiber handle that is solid and appears to be very durable. There is a lanyard loop on the heal of the handle. The knife can be opened or closed with one hand and can also be used right or left handed. The blade comes very sharp. I weight is what I would consider to be average for a knife this size. It has a nice appearance overall and is not so big that it is hard to carry.

Previously served as a USAF Survival/SERE instructor where "every day carry" had a somewhat more real sense to it than the cardboard killers I see going on and on about knives on the internet these days, but so be it.I had a good feeling about this knife before I even ordered it because the entire advertising page for it had not one use of the word "tactical". So help me, since when did every blessed thing in the outdoor world have to become camouflaged and tactical? From flashlights and folding knives to hoodies and boots, it's absolutely embarrassing it's so inane.That said, this came to me packed way too nice. A simple bubble wrap would've sufficed. Ain't nobody buying your boxes. The little wiping cloth? I mean seriously? The blade was arm shaving sharp right out of the box, with just the tiniest of burrs coming up and off with a few licks on the strop. I love the thick spine and thumb rest, but here too, you could'a saved some dough and spared the silliness of the mock case rim, but what do I know, I also prefer hand crank truck windows.The cross-bolt safety has a very reassuring solidness to it, and it took no time at all to acclimate to opening smooth and steady with either the thumb assist or the safety, so this definitely meets or exceeds my expectation of a daily working folder. The Steel being D2 means little to me one way or the other since I have no way of knowing how this was heat treated, nor a hardness tester, so I guess I'll find out when I get to grinding on it later. So far it's proven quite tough with good enough edge retention for my farm and ranch routine. And for what it's worth, I carry a Leatherman for my non knife chores, and a knife for knifing.I have pretty large paws, so this handle just feels good in hand, as it should. The shape stays put with no stress when I'm bearing down on a cut, and that little extra heft just feels reassuring. The blade stays nice and solid in lock, and to flick it open has become second nature in no time at all. Super smooth and silky before I even thought of adding anything. The reverse-able pocket clip is very nicely done in its entirety, and the Tanto blade shape is my first and only that I again, could really care less about, I'm not a ninja.One of my many amazingly intelligent and talented mentors was a Renaissance man in every sense of the word, and among his many talents was that of edged tool maker. He carried nothing during his life in the bush but an antiquated Schrade 2-blade Trapper (and a 3/4 axe), with which he skinned and dressed everything from ptarmigan to moose, so in keeping with that ethos, I've never been a fan of the Rambo-esque Bowie silliness. You could put your eye out with one of them. ;)Seriously though, this three and a half or so inches is perfect for anything I may need a knife to do, and my most used blade during my time at the "best job I ever had"? Most definitely my Korean War surplus 4-blade utility pocket knife that was later replaced by the crew knife, but essentially it was exactly like my old Cub Scout pocket knife, except with no sides, just a metal case with a bale marked U.S. on the side. It had everything except a serrated edge, which is why I started carrying the Leatherman, but that's a tool that is terrible at trying to be a knife and I really only keep for the pliers.My only real complaint about this Chop2 was that the area where the blade's grind transitions from belly toward tip has a weirdly uneven tiny little bump where the two edges collide instead of flowing. It's barely perceptible, but definitely there, and it doesn't get in the way of my cutting anything, it's just weird. I'll take it out when I do my first true sharpening, so no real worries, but somebody slipped up in QC. Still, even with that wart, this is a nice handling knife that for the ask strikes me as a very fair value for the money. Put another way, I haven't handled anything that I like better for the price.
