I bought this to regulate the speed of my greenhouse fan, and it does a great job. It is a great value for the peace of mind of knowing I can adjust the speed to meet the needs of the plants I currently have in the greenhouse. It is very easy to install into your existing fan/fans or additional fans that you may have added to your space. It is virtually silent. It is lightweight, and I am not sure about how durable it would be after a significant time of use, but it seems to be far more than I had expected.

The rotary dial gives smooth transition from low to high speed, which helped significantly cut down on air noise without straining the motor. The built-in click On/Off switch is very convenient.Does exactly what it promises by slowing down fan speeds. Depending on your fan motor, you might hear a low hum at the lowest settings, but anywhere from medium to full power is completely smooth and effective.Great value for a 6-amp control.I highly recommend this product!

Simple, Effective Fan Speed Controller

This variable speed controller has been a great addition for controlling the airflow from my ventilation fan. The rotary dial makes it easy to fine-tune the fan speed instead of having the fan run at one constant speed all the time. Being able to adjust the airflow is especially useful when I only need a small amount of ventilation and don't want the fan running at full speed.The built-in on/off switch is another feature I really like. I installed this rotary speed controller to adjust a duct fan in the far bedroom. It lets me dial the airflow up or down as needed. It’s the farthest vent so it needs a little pull. Speed changes feel smooth and responsive. It works great for keeping temperatures even across rooms. One downside is the unit is bulkier than expected. A standard switch box may not be deep enough. I had to adjust my mounting plan. Mine came with a faceplate that, right out of the box, looked like garbage. The shipping box was not dented at all so their quality control didn’t catch this one, I guess? Overall it solves the airflow control problem well. For the price it delivers solid performance. I would use it again on similar fans. Good luck with your project and I hope this helped!

I built a custom AC-powered fan and needed an easy way to control the motor speed rather than having the fan operate at full power all the time.This controller ended up being exactly what I needed. The rotary control gives me straightforward speed adjustment along with an on/off function, which made integrating it into the fan enclosure relatively simple.The unit I received doesn't look exactly like what I expected based on the product photos, which initially threw me off, but functionally it has done exactly what I needed. For controlling the speed of my compatible AC fan motor, it has worked very well.

I used this fan speed controller to replace a Broan two wire controller that I was using for my kitchen exhaust fan. This controller has a higher 6A current rating than my old one, and looks like a quality item. I like that the two line wire ends have solder to keep the stands together and make it easier to connect with wire nuts or Wagos. The ground wire has a fork terminal crimped on, but you can cut it off like I did if you need to connect it a different way. The best thing I live about this controller is that it has a minimum speed adjustment screw that you can use to set the minimum fan speed so that it doesn't stall (you need a small, insulated Phillips screwdriver for this). The metal faceplate is well labeled and matches stainless steel appliances. The controller body is big, so make sure you have a deep single gang box for it that is at least 1.5" deep throughout the whole rectangular opening. The included instructions are ready to read and understand. My only negative about this kit is that it didn't include the two controller mounting screws or wing nuts, but I'm replacing an existing controller and reused my morning screws and Wago connectors. The controller worked perfectly and I was able to adjust the low fan speed easily by turning the fan on low, and using a small insulated screwdriver to turn the adjustment screw inside the controller. Great value for this controller and impressed by the adjustability.

I picked up this speed controller to manage an inline duct fan booster in my basement ventilation setup, and overall, it gets a 3-star rating from me. It definitely does the job it’s designed for.The dial is highly responsive, and the rotary control knob lets me adjust the airflow up and down with total ease. It also has a built-in power switch clicking straight into "OFF," which makes it incredibly simple to shut the system down completely without having to physically unplug the fan from the wall.However, I ran into a major roadblock during installation because of the unit’s physical size. My original plan was to mount this in a standard 2x4 metal handy box using rubber grommets. Unfortunately, the control housing itself is just too thick and too long to fit into a standard handy box.To get it mounted, I had to improvise and use a 4x4 electrical box with a 2x4 extension transition plate stacked on top. Because of this extra bulk, the final setup isn't very pretty, but luckily it’s just in my basement utility area where appearance doesn't matter as much as functionality. To add to that cosmetic disappointment, the metal faceplate arrived pre-scratched right out of the box, which was a letdown.On the bright side, the electrical side of the installation is a total breeze. The unit only has two main wires to connect in series with the load, plus a ground wire. Once I sorted out my junction box issues and gathered the correct parts, the actual wiring and assembly only took about 20 minutes. It feels stable, responsive, and is an excellent fit for workshops, garages, or inline setups if you have the space to house it properly.

This rotary control knob allows me to make airflow adjustments for a DIY auxiliary heating system to move air from a front room (where we have a wood stove) down a hallway a 6” round duct to a bedroom diagonally across the house. It allows us to push warm air from the room where the wood stove is to the opposite corner of the house. It not only provides heat to the bedroom, but also to other rooms via convention as I flows back up the hall from that bedroom. By pushing heat across the house we save money on LPG.We still use the LPG for heating water and heating two zones in the house, but the heat from the wood stove costs far less. That cost is fuel for the chainsaw and wood splitter and maintenance for both. The trees are free from the surrounding forest and our energy processing it. The forest is regenerating, so selectively removing older or declining trees for firewood spurs additional growth of younger trees.The built-in power switch makes operation simple and convenient. I had a similar on/off switch before but not the fan speed controller. In our case there is an inline duct fan and this allows me to modulate the fan RPMs to create the desired flow rate. In very cold weather we run that wood stove hot and need the full power of the duct fan, but in milder weather we can now turn the fan down so the heat transfers more slowly and keeps the whole house at a more even temperature. Before this controller we had to turn that duct system on and off manually whenever it got too warm or too cool in the far bedroom.The included wall-mount has a metal face panel for a clean professional appearance and it is located where it is much more convenient to adjust that flow rate to accommodate the changes in our heating needs.Installation was super-quick and super-easy because I only had to replace that original on/off switch with this new one. The 6A power rating is more than enough for our modest in-line fan unit.The $27 cost for a complete, easy to install, solution for controlling the duct fan is well worth the cost.
