If you have ever tried wrenching inside a cramped engine bay, under a truck dashboard, or around a tight motorcycle fairing, you know how frustrating standard-length ratchets can be. When you only have two inches of clearance, a full-sized handle won't even swing, and using bare hex keys takes forever. The 1/4" Stubby 90T Dual-Head Mini Ratchet Wrench & Bit Set has quickly earned a permanent spot in my top drawer and trail tool roll for tackling impossible tight-space fasteners.​What makes this mini ratchet such a lifesaver for me is the ultra-fine 90-tooth gear mechanism paired with a versatile dual-head design. Having a 90T gear means it only requires a tiny 4-degree arc swing to engage the next tooth, so I can break fasteners loose even when my hand can barely move. The dual-head drive gives me a standard 1/4" square drive for sockets on one side and a magnetic 1/4" hex bit driver on the other. Combined with the included 3" extension bar and 10-piece hex bit set, it lets me reach hidden carb screws, tight electrical brackets, and recessed fasteners that my full-sized ratchets can't get near.

I am a sucker for little tool kits of all kinds so I have a few things like this. This one I needed for a small carry bag I take to work daily and sometimes I end up needing a small took kit that goes beyond the leatherman I carry. I had to supply my own socket but was able to set it up with the right hex head and the right socket to do the one common job I needed it for so it works really well. For what I need it for it is just the right size and plenty strong because it isn't doing a ton of work and actually the greater problem would be a longer wrench that allows for easier overtorque and stripping bolts. About the only slight problem is it has no case but I found a slot in the small bag for it to sit contained and small cases are pretty easily available.

It’s not unusual for me to work in tight spaces so I was looking forward to getting this stubby wrench. The short handle will allow me to use the wrench in confined spaces. The head of the wrench is double-sided with a ¼ inch ratcheting drive on one side and an indented ¼ inch drive “hole” on the other side. The hole is for the included screwdriver bits and is a standard ¼ inch drive so the bits will fit my standard ratcheting screwdriver, and all my standard ¼ drive bits will fit in this stubby wrench, very versatile. The set includes the following bits: 2 flat blade (SL4, SL5), 2 phillips head (P1, P2), 3 hex (3-5), and 3 star drive (20, 27, and 30).Build quality of this tool set seems to be good. I’ve only used the wrench a couple times but there has been no suggestion of any failure or slippage in the ratcheting mechanism. The chrome plating is smooth and consistent with no excess anywhere on the tool. The handle and the extension each have one or more knurled sections that provide a good grip.Unfortunately, I do have a couple concerns about this. First, the head of the wrench that includes the ratcheting mechanism is almost the same size as my full sized 3/8 inch drive ratcheting wrench. Given the short handle, this makes the head enormous compared to the rest of the wrench and it just seems incongruous. The handle will fit in tight spaces, but the head may not.My second concern is the ¼ inch drive. Most of the time when I need a ratcheting wrench, it’s for a large-ish nut, and I rarely use my ¼ inch drive wrenches. Far and away my most often used wrench is the 3/8 inch drive, followed by my ½ inch drive wrench. I’m concerned that there will be many cases where I need a larger nut driver than ¼ inch. Fortunately, I recently got a low profile adapter set that increases the drive size and will work perfectly with this stubby wrench to increase the drive size without adding a lot of height to the driver.Overall, I like this tool set. My initial impression is that the build quality is very good. I hope that the ratcheting mechanism will stand up to hard use and this will last a long time. Time and experience will tell how big a problem the head and drive sizes turn out to be. This has the potential to be a very useful, if somewhat specialized tool. Good product.

Seems like a decent little stubby 1/4 inch ratchet wrench. Perfect to throw in a back pack, saddle bag, or glove compartment. While easily carried with you, it will require some kind of bag or tool roll to tote it along. Nothing is included.What I really like about this ratchet wrench is that it doubles as a ratcheting bit holder. This is easily its greatest selling point. It is not magnetic, but the bits are firmly held in place and almost snap into place when fully inserted. Because of this, losing them does not feel like a concern. The bits themselves have a nice coating which should help to prevent rust. The selection of common sizes is also a nice touch. 10 different sizes of Phillips bits, for example, would be unnecessary for a set like this.It includes a small 1/4 extension. Which is handy. But it does not include any sockets. This is understandable based on the fact that you could need SAE, Metric, or both. For the price, the lack of included sockets isn’t a concern. What might be a nice bit to include would be a 1/4 to 3/8 adapter to make the tool more versatile. You can always carry your own though.The ratcheting action is smooth, and pretty quiet. This is probably made possible by the 90T inside. Though this does mean the teeth are smaller and more prone to breaking. Maybe sticking with 1/4 sockets is wise. Trying to break a larger nut or bolt loose could sheer teeth off the gears. Keep in mind, that when reversing the ratcheting action, it is opposite for the side with the bit driver.
