I used several different welding caps over the years, but as a bald guy, most of them rubbed my bare scalp raw or trapped heat during the summer months. I got this breathable summer welding cap a few weeks ago because my old headwear felt like a sauna during long shifts.The product description said the color was khaki, but the actual fabric turned out to be much more of an orange shade. I dig the orange more anyways so that's cool. I work outdoors a lot, and the extended neck protection keeps the brutal sun off my neck while I weld in the open air.This lightweight fireproof cotton cap handled the heat much better than my old standard canvas options, keeping sparks from burning my skin while the soft lining stayed comfortable against my bare head. To be fair, this lighter weight does also offer less protection from heavier slag, so just be aware of that.I noticed a big difference in how well the moisture-wicking fabric managed sweat during a couple of hot afternoon projects. The built-in sweatband stopped sweat from running down my face.It fits snugly under my hood without shifting around, avoiding the annoying bunching and seam irritation that I experienced with poorly shaped brands in the past. No pressure point on my forehead.Even after a few cycles through the laundry, the fabric held its shape instead of shrinking into an unusable size like a few of my other caps have. Good value for the $16 price tag.

The cap fits nicely under my hood without creating pressure points. The sweatband is probably my favorite feature since it helps keep sweat from running into your eyes during longer welding sessions, especially in the hot summer months.The cap material feels comfortable and breathable. This is a great breathable welders cap that really helps to keep sparks and slag out and off of you while you’re welding. I primarily use it while stick or flux welding and it works wonders and is very comfortable too. The material is tough and thick but still breathable and keeps your head cool in hot places. It also looks great and the material is super comfortable on the head, very easy to slip on and off while youre working and going from having the welding helmet on. The welding helmet also easily fits over it and doesn’t cause any bunching or binding of any kind which is a lot better than my last welding cap. The sweat band also helps to keep your head dry while youre working and keep sweat out of your eyes which is a nice added bonus. The size is fairly universal and should fit most peoples heads with ease, but your mileage may vary.Overall, this is a quality well made welding cap that both keeps you cool, dry and protected while welding. It is comfortable and breathable, and wicks the sweat away from your eyes to boot. A welding helmet easily fits over it without catching or tearing it off, and it sits comfortably underneath it with no major issues. In sum, I think this welding cap provides a great value and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable and well made welding cap to keep you safe and dry while getting your welds done. Amazon sent me this for an unbiased review.If you don't own one yet, having a welders cap is required for overhead position welding, unless you enjoy hot BBs landing on your scalp and burning your hair. It's inevitable you'll get burns while welding, but you can mitigate the amount by wearing the proper protective gear.I ordered the Large version, since I have a large head. (7-3/4" sweatband size) and it fit just a little tight, but with use, it might loosen. I haven't done any welding with it, so I'm not sure if it will cause me a headache if I wear it for long periods, but short term, it works for me.The item description lists size L as 7-1/8 to 7-1/4" so that is the size head it's actually made for, so if it fits me a little tight, I'd say their description is accurate. Make sure to measure your head size before ordering.This fits under each of my welding helmets without interfering with the fit.It appears and feels to be made of cotton and is flexible and comfortable to wear.Pro tip: If you wanted to go a step further for fireproofing it, dissolve as much borax powder into boiling water until it's super saturated, let it cool down and use a spray bottle to apply it to soak into whatever natural fiber clothes you need to make fire resistant, then allow to air dry. It's dirt cheap to do, and makes your clothes last a lot longer. It helps your clothes get cleaner when you wash them too.The cost is comparable to other brands, so I'd say it's good value, especially if you have prime delivery.
