I got this as a retrofit rather than replacing an entire ceiling fan light assembly, and that’s where I think this product makes the most sense. The magnetic mounting is very convenient when you have a compatible metal plate, and the magnets hold the board securely in place. The three color temperatures are good, but having a dimming function in a replacement module is a nice upgrade. Switching between temperatures by cycling the power is a little unconventional, but the memory feature means I don’t have to do it every time I turn the light on. The light is quite bright for its size, and the board is thin enough to work in applications where a traditional fixture would be difficult to fit. Just make sure your existing fixture is compatible with the 120V two-wire setup and has a metal mounting surface before ordering.

I ended up getting two different sizes of this type of light, not same brand not same light. They have the same amount of leds on them. Even though ones larger than the other one, this is the larger one I did not end up using this one. Due to thege of the wire is very thinThe magnet is very strong. The LED lights are built very well. You have to turn the switch on and off to get it to cycle through the warmth settings of the colors, which is a bit of a hassle. Especially if you turn the light off, leave the room for a minute, come back, it'll be a different light warmth. So you have to flick through the switch to get it, to go to the right color temperature. They all do look nice, though. I needed the brighter of the lightAnd it is bright, it is very spotlight oriented, so the light is very downward. It leaves a big shadow and dark space above the fan throughout the room. Again, very easy to install. The wiring is just a very thinge. It did fit my fan with the larger size being 6 inches. I just didn't use it because of the gaudes of wire. It could be cheaper.Twenty bucks for this is a little expensive.In my opinion

The label on mine says 24w, the desciption 18w. It is bright, I'm guessing 24W is true.This is for direct connect to 120v AC, I like that, no additional driver needed.When I powered it up, only 1/2 of the LEDs came on, well it has 3 temperature selections but there's no switch, front or back. Yep, I should have read the description more closely; to change color, cycle power within 3 seconds. That worked, and in the 4K setting all the LEDs come on. Disconnect power for more than 3 seconds, then power back up and it retained the color setting, that's good.Mounting; It's listed as a ceiling fan replacement light but I plan on using it with a canopy light plate along with 3 or 4 other similar lights in the garage. The magnets that this light has for mounting are not as strong as the other lights I've picked up. They will be adequate for in a ceiling fan but not by a lot.For my use with a canopy light I may add in another thin super neodymium magnet on each mounting point. I have them on hand and it tested out well. BTW, the super neodymium magnets are great for latching on to the side of a filing cabinet to stick key rings to :)I did a 14 minute run test and measured the temperature of the back plate, low 140's F, too hot to put a hand on, but can be held by the edges. The envelope temperature of a 60w incandescent is in the 200 to 220F range, so if replacing an incandescent, temperature shouldn't be an issue.For my original intended use, mixed with other lights the color selection method would be an annoyance; but maybe over the shop workbench, different type of job maybe I like a different light color, it might be a feature.To sum it up, a good amount of light, inexpensive, adequate but a little weak for the magnetic mount and an unusual way of changing the color selection, gets pretty warm. The weaker magnets, what appears to be confusion in the wattage; label vs. description and the color selection make this 3 stars for me.Like anything I ever consider buying; if noted issues aren't a concern for use then it's Mind over Matter. If you don't mind it doesn't matter. This could easily be 4 stars for someone else.

I know this is designed as a replacement fan light, bu I've been looking for a way to convert one of my basement room's overhead light fixtures to led without buying a new fixture. This kit is small enough to fit under the light's globe and it has a big enough hole in the center to fit over the support post that holds the globe. It has 3 strong magnets and the base of the light is steel, so all I have to do is remove the 2 old sockets, cap the unused wires and connect the other 2 wires to the light. I've never seen the included connector before, and I don't know if it is code compliant, so I'll be using a Wago connector instead.This light is 24 Watts, not 18 as stated in the title, and that is plenty bright. It's one of those that is programmed by turning it on and off, which I don't particularly like, but once set it does remember the setting, unless you have a power flicker that re-programmes it.Price-wise this is a bargain, unless it has a short lifespan. We'll see.

I wasn’t planning to write this review quickly, but after seeing another reviewer give this a poor rating—clearly because they didn’t know what they were buying or how to install it—I felt it was worth testing it myself. It only takes about 10 minutes if you have all the tools ready.Rant:You wouldn’t buy a car part on Amazon if you didn’t know how to install it on your vehicle to evaluate it.You wouldn’t buy cupcake toppers if you didn’t know how to bake the cupcakes you plan to use them on.You wouldn’t buy clothes without knowing how to wear them.So why would someone buy a DIY home-improvement part, fail to install it properly, and then leave a low rating as if the product is the problem?That said, this light is genuinely amazing. It was exactly what I needed to replace the single-color LED module in my ceiling fan. It can also be used as an LED retrofit for full-size bulb fixtures. The magnets are strong although it can also be affixed using washers and bolts using the gaps, if needed.Note that the light is actually 24W not 18W as noted in the title.Color changing: To switch colors, cut power to the light, then restore power within about 4–5 seconds. If you wait longer than that, it simply remembers and returns to the last setting, which is convenient if you don’t want to reset the color every time you leave the room. The dimming also works very smoothly and consistently.Output (actual testing): In my testing, the unit registered from roughly 1 watt up to just under 24 watts for output. The board measures about 6.3 inches across. One practical note: I recommend accounting for roughly an inch or so of thickness once you include the magnet setup and hardware—something to consider if you’re working around a low-profile glass cover and need clearance.Overall, this retrofit board works as intended and is an absolute bargain if you understand what you’re buying and are prepared to install it correctly. If you’re not comfortable with DIY electrical/retrofit installs, calling a handyman is probably the safer route—likely in the $50–$100 range depending on your area and the complexity of the install.I do feel bad that the rating was dragged down by someone who clearly didn’t match the product to their skill level. The product itself works, and it’s priced extremely well for what it does. I can't be happier. This bargain item saved me from replacing a very expensive ceiling fan because the OEM soft light annoyed me so much, and now I can choose between shades of white. 🥰
