Safety Point Cutter Blades

These box cutter blades are shorter than expected and don’t fit into my blade holder. I’ll have to look for a different holder.In the meantime, the blades have a nice edge to them and I’ve been able to (carefully) use them without a holder. The blades feel uniformly sharp across the cutting edge.

These blades are universal in the way they mount into a cutter and are easy to install. That makes them pretty versatile but the thing that threw me off is that they are shorter than utility blades usually are. They are thick and durable as you would generally expect. They are properly sharp and make good replacement blades, but they don't come out as far as normal sized blades. They seem to be the same metal and color as your usual replacement blades so they should hold up just as well.

I like that these arrive in a couple small plastic cases that keep them stacked togher cleanly without the ability to bounce around much. The blades aren't your typical razer blades so you probably won't be able to use them in your run-of-the-mill boxcutter or something, but the edges are pretty dang sharp so they've been great for removing gasket material and cleaning up the edges when masking. I've only gone through a few of these over the past month or so, so they hold up pretty well even when used against aluminum blocks or cutting wood fibers. Not bad at all for the price!

These are perfect utility blades. I am using them with just a normal utility knife, and the blades fit perfectly in there. The blades are perfect for cutting boxes - they just sort of zip open now and the blade does not penetrate deep enough to cut anything inside of a box. The blades stay sharp and I have not had one break yet, so they appear to be very strong and durable.

When I saw 'box cutter replacement blades', I figured they'd be all same and interchangeable. Didn't even really take note that the one in my cutter has two notches, whereas these replacement ones only have one. Absolutely my own fault for not being more careful and a good lesson for everyone as well: PHC stands for Pacific Handy Cutters, an utility knives brand, and specifically for the models as listed in the product description. Size-wise only actually interchangeable with their SP-017 replacement blades, which also have the single notch.Very sharp blades, though, and useful as-is without needing the cutters, though obviously most useful in the designated blade holders.Just like the SP-017, but unlike the white blade pictured alongside these replacement blades, these don't have the pointed blade ends to avoid getting the blade too far past the corrugated cardboard.Similarly priced compared to the originals, on a Per-Unit basis, but you don't have to deal with a whole 100-blade box.If a smaller (40-blade box) volume is what you're looking for, then this is perfect for you.

Each blade is double-sided, so when one edge becomes dull, the other side can be used.Fit and CompatibilityUnfortunately, the blades do not fit the box cutter I originally purchased them for. (That is on me. I saw box cutter replacement blades and figured I would be able to use them somewhere.)I have lots of box cutters, and they are not all in one place. I will need to look for them and see if this one will fit any of them.Performance and Ease of UseI tested one blade on a box, and it cut effectively. However, using it by hand was difficult because I could not apply much pressure without risking injury. If the blade had fit properly in a box cutter tool, it would have been much easier and safer to use.

The 40 replacement utility knife blades are non-OEM replacements for the proprietary blades in several models of Pacific Handy Cutters. They do not fit and cannot be used in generic box cutters.If you have a PHC cutter, these are an excellent choice. The blades have the same clipped points as OEM, a safety feature, are sharp, feel sturdy, lock into place, and cut just like OEM. They are not just cheap knockoffs, although the price is about 20% lower than OEM. I’m not certain how long they will last but have no reason to believe it will be less than OEM.
