Tug-of-War Rope

My tween son homeschools, and I've been getting some P.E. equipment for us to use to stay active at home. I thought this 20-foot tug of war rope would be a fun addition.The cotton rope is soft and feels comfortable to hold. It's strong enough for my son and me to use, but I don't think it would be my first choice for heavier use with larger groups or for frequent use. It just doesn't feel quite durable enough for that.I also find the taped ends a little odd, even though they're mentioned as a feature in the listing. It basically looks like packing tape was wrapped around the ends rather than having them more neatly finished. I would have preferred a knot or some other type of finished end.The medals, flag and whistle are fun additions, although they're not particularly high quality and look a bit cheap. I do appreciate the black storage bag, and everything actually fits inside, including the rope.I had a hard time deciding between three and four stars on this one. It meets our needs so far and doesn't cost a lot, but I have some concerns about how well it will hold up over time.

This isn’t just a piece of rope thrown into a package. It’s essentially a little tug-of-war/field-day kit, and it has been so much fun for getting a group of kids and adults outside together.The rope is a full 40 feet long and 20 mm thick, so there’s plenty of room for multiple people on each side. The cotton material is also much nicer on your hands than a rough utility rope would be. You still get plenty of grip without it feeling unnecessarily abrasive.I really like the center marker because it makes it obvious which team is actually winning instead of everyone arguing about where the middle started.The extras are a nice surprise too. The set includes markers/accessories, medals, a whistle, finish/checkered flag and a storage bag, so you can turn an ordinary tug-of-war game into an actual competition.It’s great for birthday parties, family reunions, camping, school events, team building, picnics, or backyard games.What I’d want to know before buying: Forty feet is a lot of rope, so you’ll want a reasonably large open area to use it properly. Grass is also a much better choice than concrete when kids are involved because somebody is eventually going to end up on the ground!This is one of those simple outdoor games that somehow gets everyone involved.

This little tug of war kit is awesome to keep in the background for when you plan to host a party of an event. The rope is soft but strong, and they included little medals and stuff in there to use as prices. Tug of war in general is fun, and this rope helps add to that by not being a super rough rope. I recall when I was younger, doing tug of war with tow ropes and other rough ropes and tore up my hands. This rope is much softer and made to be used for tugging. It rolls up nicely so taking it with you is easy, and is long enough to have plenty of people on each end pulling. All in all, great item to have in your party tub.

This rope was a pleasant surprise. I was expecting a rough synthetic rope like you’d find on a horse lead, but it’s a soft cotton rope that’s much more comfortable to hold during a tug-of-war. It’s easy on the hands, even after multiple rounds.We used it at a family reunion, and everyone from little kids to adults had a blast. It’s already earmarked for a station at our next school field day.A few things I’d change: the included medals and line strip weren’t useful for us. We just painted a line on the ground instead, which worked better and eliminated a tripping hazard. Also, the rope ends are only secured with packaging tape. Ours was discolored and started peeling off almost immediately, so we tied a knot in each end to keep the rope from unraveling. It was an easy fix, but I think the ends should have been finished more securely from the start.The cotton does snag and pick up dirt and oils more than a synthetic rope, so it won’t stay looking pristine, but it’s a lot more pleasant to use. Overall, it’s been a fun addition to our group games.

It is thick and strong but made of cotton so it is soft. No gloves needed. The rope is colorful and flexible. The rope can withstand heavy pulling with no damage. The ends are taped to avoid unraveling. Whipping the ends with string would be preferable and more secure, but tape works.Center marker ribbon: the ribbon is red so it can be easily seen once it is tied onto the ropeCenter line marker: the red woven strap is sturdy. The strap is about 39” long so it clearly marks the center linePlastic ground stakes: the plastic stakes work best in soft soil or sand.
