Shower bases (or “pans” as the pros call it) used to involve laying down a bed of dry mortar and sloping it properly before placing a thick membrane on top that extends several inches up each wall and curb, being careful to create a waterproof structure. It was labor intensive and required some expertise to accomplish. Then a few years ago, a company called Schluter-Kerdi came up with a system that used a pre-sloped foam shower pan and used proprietary pieces to create a waterproof structure. The Schluter-Kerdi system is probably the prevalent way to build a tiled shower pan these days. It is a good system but does require special care during construction to make sure all the steps are followed properly. This set of waterproofing pieces from JITgee comes with four fabric pieces for waterproofing an inside corner and two pieces for waterproofing an outside corner. Every time you have a change of plane you need to worry about waterproofing so that includes the four corners of your shower pan and any corners from a built-in shower bench. These fabric pieces are installed using a thinset mortar product and must be carefully pressed into the corners which is where the provided putty knife comes in. Water is a ruthless thing when you’re trying to contain it so it’s important to follow the manufacturer’s installation guidelines carefully. I have seen too many “expert” installations fail because someone thought they knew better and could leave out a step. Pricing for this kit is certainly lower than what you would pay for an OEM kit. I think this kit in fact uses a thicker fabric and should actually perform better. The fabric has imbedded TPE or “thermoplastic elastomer” which is what provides the waterproofing. Recommended.

Perfect for our needsThis kit came in a zipper style bag. We have 4 inside corners and 2 outside corners as well as a matching blue plastic putty knife. Everything is as they stated in the listing.While this isn't the same brand that I had gotten for our project, it is the same high quality that I was hoping for. The thickness and density of the waterproofing corners is identical for a fraction of the price I paid for the big name brand. I did not note any difference in thickness to the other product. I feel confident that we are making a good decision for our "European Wet Room" designed master bath. The shower is curb-less roll in shower. So, we are treating all the corners in the bathroom as if they were part of the shower. Even though they will likely never see standing water. Instead of a curb, we are setting it with three drains. The main drain and two auxiliary drains as a "just in case". Mainly to calm my nerves.I had never thought this was possible. However, when I broke my knee and had to be in a wheelchair for months, I saw first-hand while in the hospital that a curb-less shower was an asset and insisted that our home be equipped with one on the main floor.I am very happy with these corners. I feel that they will be a long-lasting solution for our particular need.

I ordered this to use in a walk in shower I am building. This will be my first time building a custom shower floor pan and I wanted to make sure I have a good seal at the corners where it is difficult to fold the floor waterproof membrane into the corner. I am hoping this will allow me to just make corner cuts on my membrane and seal with the proper adhesive making for a much neater an tighter corner. The material is pretty thick and i tested it by capturing a little water in one of the corners and letting it set. It seems to have no problem disallowing water to seep through. I have not built my pan yet but look forward to trying this out and will update if I have an issues with it. The kit came with a spreading tool to help saturate the fiber with the sealeing/adhesive material as well as 4 inside corners and two outside corners. The outside corners will work well for adding a bench seat on one end of the shower.

I recently received this 7-piece waterproofing seal kit and will be using it as part of our new home build while preparing our shower for tile installation. Since our shower includes a built-in bench, I like that this kit contains both inside and outside corner pieces because we will need both types to properly waterproof all of the transitions around the bench. The material feels thicker than many similar products I have seen, and I like that because corners are one of the most important areas to protect against future water intrusion. The pieces are flexible enough to fit neatly into the corners while still being sturdy enough to hold their shape during installation. Although we have not installed them yet, we did test one of the corner pieces with our waterproofing material by letting water sit against it overnight, and we did not find any signs of water penetration or leaking.
