These metal plates feel substantial and well made. The paint has no peeling or nicks and it also looks durable. It is a bright white color with stainless color screws. I think white screws would be better for blending into the ceiling. Perhaps the screws and the plates can be spray painted for a better match to your ceiling color? There were no instructions or paperwork informing the customer of those options.

I'm building a new house and using every chance to buy anything construction related. These cover plates are well made, they are all steel and are oversized- they can cover openings larger than used for the typical 4" boxes. I wanted to use these covers to cover a missing smoke detector temporarily.It had a round mount but underneath was a regular square box (like an outlet box), so unfortunately the holes were spaced too far apart and the screws that came were also too big (made for a ceiling mount).I'm assuming the ceiling plates were the correct size, just not compatible with what I had. Luckily I was able to use one of the old screws and a short dummy screw thru the other hole into the ceiling and it was quite secure.The plate itself was strong metal and the included screws were white on the end to help them blend into the ceiling.
