I’ll go ahead and say first that I’m not the biggest fan of paying $8/square foot for a plastic tile. I really prefer the weight and durability of ceramic, glass, porcelain, or even terracotta tiles, and I while the description calls this a “decorative kitchen backsplash”, I absolutely WOULD NOT consider placing this product behind my cooktop. Because… it’s plastic, and until I see flammability tests indicating otherwise, mixing plastic with open flame is definitely a choice — in my opinion, a bad one.That being said, I do like these tiles. While they are plastic, they’re a lot lighter than what you’d get in a more traditional material.I don’t have to worry about flammability ratings in my use case, either — I’ll be installing these in a small guest bathroom on a bare wall that isn’t exposed to direct water contact. The bathroom is lightly used, and I ordered these to punch up the décor. As such, while I hope they won’t allow moisture to set in, it’s not a major concern.These tiles look exactly as pictured, and they come with J‑channels that fit the shorter end of each tile.While they’re thin, they’re rigid and support their own weight. They’re best cut with a utility knife or box cutter for the cleanest, easiest cut.They offer flexibility in layout and placement, and for decorative, low‑impact areas, they’re a perfectly workable option.
