Finally got the opportunity to try this out today! Used it to jump a Honda Fit whose battery was so dead that the doors would not open with the key fob. Connected it up and it started right up! I was super impressed! This is definitely a great portable jump starter if you already have the batteries! Very easy to use, just put a battery in it and connect the alligator clips to the car battery terminals. I was a bit worried that the 18 volts would damage the car or the amount of current would damage the battery but I was pleasantly surprised that the battery didn’t even go down one bar and the car worked perfectly after disconnecting. Would highly recommend if you’ve got makita LXT batteries laying around

If you already use Makita batteries, this is a handy little jumper to have around. It seems to be made with quality materials and 8awg cables; better than any other inexpensive jumpers I've tried. I have a weak battery on my lawnmower and need to jump it if it sits too long or if I forget to turn off the key when it runs out of gas. This has worked fine for that purpose. All the Makita batteries I've tried it with have fit perfectly. As long as you have a good battery to go in it, it could be useful in an emergency.

This adapter is titled to use it as jumper cables, but I would not use it for jump starting a 12 volt car. It takes a Ma-kita 18 volt battery that fits perfect into it, but being 18 volt and a car only being 12 volt, in my book that sounds like disaster for the cars electronics. Other than that, I have created LED light strings with 3 six volt bulbs in series and tie multiples of those in parallel for camping and just attach the alligator clips to the end 2 wires, making camping light strings. The gauge of the wire is an over kill, but it works. The alligator clips are definetly heavy duty making this great in functionality. I do recommend and think it is a great value. 260606CP

At first glance this battery jumper seems like a clever idea especially if you have ready access to those 18V rechargeable power tool batteries, but is it really a good idea to use on a 12V DC modern car system?The build quality of this jumper seems to be good. The battery terminal clamps are very strong, and they use 8AWG cabling, but is it the right tool for the job?Let's face it, there are much better and safer rechargeable 12V Li battery booster packs out there. Sure they are maybe $50 to $60 more expensive, but why take the chance of frying some very expensive electronic components in your car while using this 18V device?This could be a perfect example of being penny wise and pound foolish.

For the price, the build quality is better than I expected. The ends of the 8AWG wire are soldered and firmly crimped into the alligator terminals. With some good yanks, I couldn't pull them free. The 1.8 foot length of the wire is also good, providing a diverse choice of placement while giving a boost. The jaws of the alligator clips are plenty big for battery terminals. The adapter fits Makita batteries properly and it's easy to slide the battery on and off. The positive and negative wires are nicely wrapped together in two places that make them easier to control. There is no exposed wire or loose joints. And the silicon coated wire is a premium feature that I appreciate.The terminal reading with an 18V Makita battery read 19 volts: the full amount which is what you want. I left the battery on the adapter overnight to see if it would drain the battery. It didn't, which is contrary to some other examples of this type of adapter that I've used. That's a nice feature if you keep one of these with a battery in your trunk. 8AWG will be considered undersized by some for the amount of current flowing, so be sure to use this for only a short time.Your results will depend on the size of Makita battery. A small amp battery will work best with small engines. Higher amps will be necessary for larger engines. You may wish to keep in mind that this adapter isn't a replacement for the purpose built 1,000 amp to even 8,000 amp jump starters that are available.
