I have smart locks on almost every door in my house at this point. All five bedrooms have them, three walk-in closets have them, and all of our exterior doors use some type of smart or keypad lock. Needless to say, I've tried quite a few different models over the years.This TALVTEC lock is a very nice option for the price. It offers a lot of the same basic convenience you get from more expensive keypad locks, but without requiring any wireless connection or app setup. For some locations, I actually prefer that. There is no Wi-Fi signal to worry about, no Bluetooth pairing, and nothing that needs to stay connected to your network.That makes this especially useful for places like an outdoor gate, detached area, or in my case a walk-in closet where I simply want keypad access and don't need remote control from my phone.The lock itself feels solid and well made. The buttons have a good feel to them and the overall construction seems durable enough for regular use. Mine is installed indoors, so I can't really comment on how well it will handle years of rain, humidity, or direct UV exposure outside. Inside the house though, it has held up very well.I also have kids who can be pretty rough on anything with a moving part, and so far even my little Godzillas haven't managed to break this one yet. That is usually a pretty good durability test around here.For the money, I think this is a really good option if you want keyless access without paying extra for network features you may never use. Easy to live with, feels durable, and does exactly what I need it to do. I would purchase another one.

Wow, this keyless door knob set has it all! You have the option to use keys or keypad entry on both sides. It has a guest option for temporary passcode use. It has backlit keys so you can see what you're doing at night. It takes 2 AA batteries, but the device is waterproof, making it perfect for outdoors.For purposes of trying it out, my husband installed it on an interior door (because it was over 100 degrees outside and he didn't feel like standing in the heat to do it at this moment!). As you can see in my video, it works great and is easy to use. He said the installation was pretty straight forward, and he said it was the easiest installation of any of the keyless door knobs he has installed up to this point, and we have quite a few.Hubby also said that it is a pretty high-tech, durable, well-made device. You get the security of having a passcode or key required on both sides of the device, but you can also set it to allow passive access from the inside when using it on a gate, for instance, so that you don't need a code or key to exit, but only to enter from the outside. It seems they thought of everything!It also has a USB-C port for emergency battery backup in case you let the batteries die and don't have a key handy. But it says that the pair of AA batteries that is required for operation should last greater than 2 years, which is great. It also will give you warning beeps if the batteries are getting low so it hopefully doesn't catch you off guard.This seems to be a professional quality doorknob, which explains the price. It looks nice and does all the things you need it to do for convenience and security.Ultimately, we plan to install this on our backyard iron gate. The guest passcode feature is great, because we have a weekly pool service and need the pool guy to have easy access when he comes each week. But we have to make some repairs to our gate first before we install it there. But it fits the bill for exactly the features we were looking for to use outdoors on that gate.I think it is also important to note that it will withstand temperatures from -22 to 176 degrees F, which is important in our 100+ degree Texas heat since we plan to use this outdoors and in the sun. I've experienced anything from -2 to 111 degrees since I've lived here, so that suits our conditions just fine.Overall, this is a solid, top-notch device, and I can wholeheartedly recommend it!

fit perfectly on my door with no issues. Installation was a little more involved than a regular knob but not hard at all. Just make sure you keep track of the order the pieces go on. Very easy to change the code. The knob is a little hard to turn from the outside. all and all its a good product so far. can't speak to battery life yet. when it dies I try to remember to come update my review.

This is a pretty decent door knob/lock. I have become so used to smart locks and keyless entry that now I really dislike having any door that requires a key. Our new house unfortunately has lots of those doors, but the one that has been most annoying is our shed. I've been wanting to swap it out with a keyless knob, but so many options are just deadbolts and this door doesn't have one.To make matters worse, the door has a drive-in style latch collar. Unfortunately, this set doesn't come with a swappable collar, so I finally broke down and just chiseled out the latch bed. Installation wasn't too bad and the instructions are decent. It comes with all the hardware needed and even includes extra spindles in case you're installing it on an extra thick door. Mine was standard, so that part was easy.The only really troublesome part of setup was that they didn't include the programming manual in the box. I had to go to their website to figure out how to program the user codes. Kind of annoying that this wasn't just included with the instructions.That said, there are quite a few nice features you can program. You can set the inside to passage mode so you don't have to enter a code every time. You can also set it to manual lock mode, meaning both sides will open until you manually lock it using the keypad. It stores multiple user codes, and since there are keypads on both sides, I can see this being especially useful for gates or other areas where you want controlled access in both directions.Now to the actual function. It's decent. But disclaimer, I also hate knobs. I much prefer levers because they're just so much more convenient. This knob has a rubberized grip, so it likely won't get super hot or super cold sitting out in the sun and weather, but it is still a knob.The keypad itself is pretty easy to use, although in the dark you can't see the buttons until you press one. So you basically have to hope you hit the right first number of your code or cancel out and start over. It would have made MUCH more sense to have a twist of the knob, a button in the center, or something else illuminate the keypad before entering your code.Overall, it's a decent and pretty unique setup, and I can see a lot of situations where having keypads on both sides would be really useful. For my shed, it works just fine, although it's probably a bit overkill. I'm a little worried about how quickly it will eat through batteries, despite the advertised 2+ year battery life, so if I find myself replacing them constantly, I'll be sure to report back.

OTOH, this is one solid, well engineered door knob so I am not docking any stars for that.Pros: pretty much everything else. There is a somewhat annoying set of preparation steps you have to take before installation can begin (see the photo of the instruction sheet), whereby you're basically taking the entire thing apart. On that note be careful when unboxing, the screw that holds the battery compartment on is barely threaded in and I almost lost it.After that though it's a straightforward process to get this installed. If you've ever put in a smart door handle or deadbolt, this is the same. If you've ever changed out a door handle or deadbolt, except for routing and plugging in a cable to the battery compartment, you'll do just fine with this too. I had the entire thing swapped out and programmed in about 30-45'.Remember, while this is powered (I used two AA Energizer Lithium batteries BTW), it is NOT smart or bluetooth capable.When the door knob is "locked", you can twist either handle fully back and forth, but the latch does not engage. It will only move after you've entered your user or master code.I picked this up to secure my workshop door. The old 1980s brass one was not cutting it and required I key my way in, and I would often forget to re-lock it at the end of the day. This one has an adjustable duration for the autolock. I left it at the default of 4 seconds, because this is not a deadbolt so the door will still close normally when the lock is engaged.If you're using this in a situation such as me, you don't need the inside knob to be locked all the time, which necessitates entering your code or using your key in order to leave. To set the inside knob only to a passage, you need to activate the "advanced passage mode" as set out in the instructions ( ✓0✓master code✓1✓ ). Then the inside knob will always open the door.So as long as this holds up outside in New England winters, I'm very happy with this.
