I ordered the 10x10 to cover an 8-inch kitchen exhaust line on a pier-and-beam house — so my use is straightforward exterior coverage rather than active airflow management. For that it fits and functions fine.Build quality and materials are typical of what you'd find at a local hardware store — nothing exceptional, but nothing lacking either. The louvers and four-directional airflow work as designed, though those features weren't a priority for my application. The main advantage here is price: delivered to the door for around $20, it came in below what I'd pay locally for comparable quality.The more useful data point for anyone installing this outside, particularly near the water: two months in a saltwater environment and no signs of corrosion. Looks the same as the day it went up. I'd still expect to replace it every couple of years in this environment, but at this price that's not a concern.If you have an old, rusty vent cover, this is an easy upgrade. I’m renovating a 40-year-old rental, and the duct vents have been painted over so many times they just really look awful. With this one priced under $40, it’s just not within my time and materials cost to strip and repaint the old one. This is a high-quality furnace vent cover. The outer dimensions are accurately listed. The inside dimensions are closer to 15.5, which works out perfectly for a nominal 16X16 opening, and it includes 4 pre-painted white 2” screws. The vent opens and closes smoothly, and being made entirely from steel, I’m confident it’s going to outlast its owner. It’s actually heavier than I expected, which I take as a good sign for durability. Very happy with this item.
