We use this for grilling, and it’s a nice, sturdy apron. It feels very well made and provides a good barrier against the heat from the grill, which is really the main thing I wanted from it. The material feels substantial and protective without getting in the way while grilling. I also like knowing that it can double as a fire blanket if needed. Overall, it feels like a well-made piece of grilling gear with the added benefit of some extra fire protection.

Like many people, I like to cook over live fire. Wood, gas, charcoal, it's all good for making a tasty dinner. If you spend enough time cooking with fire, you'll eventually have some sort of flare up or other flame related accident. As wise as it is to keep a fire extinguisher handy, I don't know anyone that does that. Same for a garden hose. So when I saw the Prepared Hero fire proof apron that can also help extinguish a fire, I thought "yeah, that sounds like a good idea!"The apron came in a plain plastic zip bag and was neatly folded inside. A thank you card and another small card with instructions were included. Basically, this is a standard apron that uses velcro for the ties instead of making you tie a knot or use buckles. This makes it much easier to rip off your body to use as a fire blanket/extinguisher in an emergency.The apron is made from a double sided silicone coated fiberglass and aramid strip material. Fancy words to say this is similar to a large Silpat baking mat, but with straps to hold it on you. The material is solid. Just thick enough to feel durable but not heavy. And unlike other cloth aprons, the Prepared Hero easily cleans up with a soapy sponge and some water. Great news for those that are a little sloppy with the BBQ sauce.So far, I've been a pretty safe griller. No unexpected flare ups. No grease fires, etc. So I haven't been able to test it's flame resistance or ability to put out a fire. While this doesn't make for a great review, it does keep my homeowner's insurance agent happy...If you're looking for a nice, clean, simple looking apron that is very easy to clean and has the added bonus of being a piece of PPE, I highly recommend the Prepared Hero Fireproof Apron.

Dual-purpose safety gear that’s held up well through regular grilling useI got this as a Father’s Day gift for my husband, and it’s become part of his regular routine for BBQ and Blackstone cooking. It does not feel cheap or flimsy, and the overall design is practical without being overly complicated.The quick-release straps are probably my favorite part. The apron has quick disconnects at both the neck and waist, which makes it easy to remove without having to completely untie everything. That is convenient for normal use, but it also makes sense from a safety standpoint if you ever needed to remove it quickly or use it as an emergency fire blanket.I also appreciate the long tie/strap setup. It should allow a wide range of body sizes to use it comfortably, which is nice because grilling aprons can sometimes feel like they were designed for one very specific body type.For the price point, this feels like a well-thought-out apron. Heavy duty fireproof apron for a fair price of $49.99.The entire apron is made of silicone coated fiberglass and is cut wide enough for heavyset individuals. it is a heavy apron when worn because it is made of medium density silicone so wearing it for several hours may cause some fatigue around the neck. It does have a strap on the neck that is easily adjustable and is easy to clean as food is easily wiped off with cleaning wipes.Apron is for Atul as it can also be used a fire blanket. There are 2 loops sewn in to use as handles that allows the apron to be easily converted to a fire blanket. The apron can be hung or could be rolled up for storage. One thing it lacks is pockets so I had to put my iPhone in my pants pocket. This will be great as a gift or purchased to use in a commercial kitchen, but I do not feel it is an everyday use apron due to the weight and the strain on my neck.

This fire resistant apron is one of those items that feels more like safety equipment than a traditional kitchen gear, but that's honestly it's biggest strength. If you spend any time grilling, using a griddle, frying foods, or working with open flames, the extra protection from this apron is noticeable over a standard cloth apron. The material does a great job shielding against grease splatter and heat. The coverage is pretty good too, extending out far enough to protect a large area.One of the best features of this is the dual purpose design though. Not only does it wear like an apron, but it can also be quickly removed and used as a fire blanket if needed. The bright red pull tabs and velcro attachment system are nicely implemented so you can act more quickly in an emergency. The velcro is a little too tight when pulling, but easy enough to remove compared to traditional ties.That said, comfort is not the focus here. The material feels like you're wearing a rubber tarp! It's somewhat stiff and utilitarian, but not exactly uncomfortable. Just don't expect the soft flexibility of a cotton or canvas apron by comparison! However, the tradeoff is worth it considering the added protection. Just be prepared to run a little warmer when grilling in the summer heat.One thing I would recommend is giving the stitching a once over on arrival. Mine arrived with some missed stitching and loose threads, so just inspect carefully since it seems quality control is a bit lacking. Overall though, this is a thoughtfully designed apron that is focused on safety as its priority. If you grill frequently, or simply want a fire blanket within an arms reach, this is a practical solution and worthwhile addition to your grilling gear!
