As far as durability, the outer is stronger than the inner... something like snips will likely mar the material, but I haven't tried to break it just yet.Outer is durable, should hold up well to repeated carrying of tools. This is big enough to comfortably fit screwdrivers, wrenches, other hand tools but not a hammer--hammer is too big as shown. You can probably get away with carrying it if you don't zip fully, but it's really not intended to be used this way.Overall for the price, I'm happy with it.
