Finn Knife

Just dropping a quick review because this is a new product and I'd like to support a ukranian company. I've only had it for a few days and used it only for a few hours of carving, so take that as you will:My rough summary is that this is an ok knife. It's styled after a sloyd knife, a type of specialized wood carving knife. However, the knife is ground very thickly with a sharp squared off spine like a bushcraft knife. On the other hand, the tang is partial and only goes down about 2 inches- about 40% of the handle (tested with a magnet) and the blade is not very tall, making it a poor choice for bushcraft work. Overall it feels confused- like it doesn't know if it wants to be a bushcraft knife or a carving knife, and kind of fails at both. In comparison I have a photo of it next to the BPS aurora which is a good carver (though heavy) and bushcraft knife, and two fantastic carving knives (reprofiled Beavercraft and a custom badger states blade).The edge arrived moderately sharp, so I resharpened and stropped it to a nice polish. Most BPS knives come either dull or barely sharp, so this was expected. One bevel is ground at a slightly higher angle than the other, but they're both relatively even. Not a big deal to me. I also took the time to round off the spine.As for everything else- the handle is stellar, I wish more knives were like it. I had no hand strain carving for a few hours. The padauk bolster looks really good, although the top edge was extremely crisp. I used a file to round it off. There is a small gap between the handle and the blade- I used thin super glue to get in there and seal it off (since I find that wet sharpening can easily lead to rust in the tang). The knife is lightweight which I prefer in a carving knife- makes it faster and less tiring to do precise carving work. The sheath is functional though very tight. I'm sure with time it will loosen up. It is fully welted and ambidextrous. It's a nice design.My final take away is that I really like the design of the knife. It's good looking and feels great in the hand. I just don't like the edge it's ground at, and reprofiling a scandi grind is pain. If you just want a nice, general purpose knife then this could be a good option for you, especially for the price. However, there are many better carving knives and bushcraft knives, even from BPS. If this were an expensive knife I'd give it a poor review, but because I purchased this for $18 I can hardly complain.

I recently took the BPS Knives Finn Worker on a camping trip, and it exceeded my expectations. This compact fixed-blade knife handled every task I threw at it with ease.I used it to prepare fire-starting materials, carve a small wooden art piece, trim paracord, make tent stakes, and take care of general camp chores. It also performed great for food prep—I peeled potatoes, chopped vegetables, cleaned mushrooms, and sliced other ingredients without any issues.The blade arrived razor-sharp and held its edge throughout the trip. It felt comfortable in hand, offered excellent control for detailed carving, and had enough strength for tougher camp tasks. The leather sheath is well-made and keeps the knife secure while making it easy to carry on a belt.If you're looking for a light, compact fixed-blade knife that's easy to pack but still performs like a much larger knife, the Finn Worker is a fantastic choice. It has quickly become one of my favorite camping companions. I highly recommend the BPS Knives Finn Worker.

It's a working knife. Think a large sloyd style carver. Came shaving sharp with a comfortable handle and a nice sheath. If you need a knife for wood working / carving this is the one. It's not a heavy duty bushcraft blade.
