For solely using metal hangers, these will serve you well overall. Know in advance the top will need to be metal in most cases since plastic ones I have won’t fit in the hole which is kind of a bummer and something they easily could have adjusted for by making it a bit rounder or even just square. The bottom is alright but does have a tendency to have hangers fall off when you quickly slide clothes across the bar, oops.These are like a value version of the kind that are shaped like a wide 5 missing the upper line and have a gap between the two sides of it, the top and bottom connecting across the gap… the bottom is easy enough to make a but more able to hold the bottom hanger, but taking pliers to them hasn’t been thrilling. I’ve had to make sure my hangers with metal hooks are on the top when using these.They do add organization. They save space. They give much more vertical space between items than the tried and tried soda pop or pop off can tab method (the metal skinny end going into the long skinny slotted side, the fatter plastic ones hanging on the round end if not doing metal atop metal). These are fine. They aren’t as nice as the velvet coated 5 without the top line shaped split guys as hangers don’t stay in the bottom quite as well, but they aren’t as expensive (or hard to find anymore). I recommend them if you only have metal hangers, sure. Chunky plastic ones should be less than half you want to hang if doing two levels, less than a third if three.The one thing that I am not sure about with these is whether there is any risk of the metal discoloring fabric it comes in contact with over time. I’ve had old metal hangers leave lines on clothes, so this could possibly do that, too. Check on them once in a while. Be sure they aren’t rusting or otherwise, something humid environments absolutely can cause even with only air exposure.

This is a generous number of hanger extenders to either save space on your rod or pair your outfits ahead of time. I love being able to organize and optimize my space. Please see photo to compare this product (left) with a product I have been using (right). These extenders are thick enough metal that I do not worry about bending with heavy suits or jackets. However, if you look at my third photo, the shape of the extender can damage a wooden hanger. The metal presses exactly into the seam between the 2 pieces of wood, whereas my wider extender puts the pressure on either side of that seam. This is no problem with a lightweight summer top, but I wouldn’t trust a substantial piece over time. If you opt for a plastic hanger or dry cleaner’s hanger, which would leave that space open, the extender will work but will swing in the open space. I will probably use these for kids’ clothes to encourage them to get their school clothes ready ahead of time. If you use these to hang up accessories instead of clothes, you can easily stack several hangers and extenders down without brushing the floor.

To be such a simple item, these hanger extenders sure are useful! By enabling me to pair items on essentially one hanger (really it's 2 hangers but only one is on the closet rod) I can easily match outfits to make my morning routine a little less time consuming as well as gain a little more space amongst the hanging items. This essentially doubles your closet space, makes things much easier to find, and keeps matching items together for easy outfit selection.
