Reasonably accurate, great price !

[Style: BT705 6V & 12V]
Works as advertised. I tested 8 car batteries for CCA, the readings were very close to a more expensive accurate battery tester !

Don't let the simple look fool you, this thing spits a lot of information

The state of micro electronics is very, very good, as evidenced by this latest addition to my diagnostic tool set. I can't explain the particulars of just how it functions, but my guess is some sort of very intuitive chip programming that interprets how much and how fast electrons are being moved around and then extrapolates (quite accurately) results from there. I say that because the battery test results were spot on with my resistor based load tester, and my other testing gear (bi-directional scanner, multimeter, etc.) all agreed with the charging system results. All of that accurate information in a little package (that includes a case) that I'll be carrying in the glove box from now on.I actually have several other versions of this from other makers (Autel, et al) and each successive generation just keeps getting better and better. This particular model is so easy to use that I seriously doubt that any dedicated DIYer will even need the directions. You can literally figure out most of it just by fumbling around since it includes prompts throughout. The case is a well made pretty heavy plastic housing with bits of grippy texture molded in, and the DC test leads are provided with a nice molded in stress relief. The alligator test lead clips are well attached and hold well on all of my truck and Prius batteries, and the operating buttons are a raised rubberized silicone felling assortment that exhibited no hesitations and required no double taps or excessive effort to actuate. Overall not a professional, all day, every day bang around the shop kinda tool, but with a little care I would expect it to last longer than we'll probably need to be testing 6 & 12 volt ICE engines. For the current coupon assisted ask of thirty-six bucks I consider this a good value for the money overall.Functionally, even though it is primarily powered by the battery/system that it is connected to, it also comes with a USB cable to allow it to be powered elsewhere so you can also download and print out the results of your scans. A bit over the top for my typical needs, but it's nice to know it's there should I ever need it.

Truly a quality device at an affordable price.Truly a quality device at an affordable price.

A year ago a friend helped me - I was having charging issues with one of my bikes. Stupid mistakes, I won't bore you with the details, but I fried my stator, and could have avoided expensive 'I think this is it' fixes'. More recently my uncle called and said he had a message on the screen of his SUV and it said something about some computer or voltage issue - it was a strange one, at least without the manual in hand. I cold have saved both myself and my uncle some bucks with this tester. This will check the current draw at startup of your car/truck/suv, analyze battery charging with and without load (has you turn on headlights).I asked my friend that helped me the year before to show me how to use this (I read the instructions, and they are pretty straight forward) and the menu and options are equally understandable - however there are a few things I need to figure out so as to get the most out of this device. However, so far I am impressed. We tested some batteries my friend had on standby as well as his wife's car (one of the garage based batteries was his backup car battery - don't ask, I don't know why). To that end however, my friend still had that tester, so I was able to compare one to another. They were close enough together in measurement so that is quite insignificant in the grand scheme of things. The construction of this instrument is very good - they provide a storage pouch for it, but it is quite easy to re package in to the original box. I won't really be traveling with this, so I would like to keep it in the plastic tray and the cardboard box only for extra protection, but that is me - take care of your things. However the device itself looks to be very well constructed and should take some knocking about if need be. The unit is powered from the batter you are testing, and has quite robust 'alligator clips' to attach to the lugs. There is a USB to a connector, I apologize, I am out of date on the names of these, however I have provided a photo below, which will power up the device, but I believe the real purpose is to connect to a printer. I still have to fully digest the instructions. We did notice that the unit saved some data, so you most likely have the ability to print reports, again, I am still figuring this thin out. However, if I can figure it out, anyone can. That said - this gives you all of the information that you might need about battery life, charging, waveform of the current draw, this thing is nuts. I have a background in electronics both on the bench and in sales. This is a quality device with more information available than you probably need. My friend was duly impressed and I am guessing that he may be upgrading. We plugged his tester in and the interface was difficult, three lines of dot-matrix style text. This unit has a clear graphical interface as well as comprehensive menus. This is more than worth the money - really a great piece for your diagnostic set.

Battery Tester With Clear Display and Easy‑To‑Use FunctionsBattery Tester With Clear Display and ...

[Style: BT705 6V & 12V, Style: BT705 6V & 12V]
This tester has a very clear and nicely designed display that is easier to read than my other battery tester. The in‑vehicle battery test and SOH test were simple to run and the results for resistance, CCA, and state of health were presented clearly. I plan to use these readings at the beginning of winter and the beginning of summer to help decide when to replace my batteries based on data. The cranking test was also easy to run and provided the cranking time along with the high and low voltages during the start. I am hoping that tracking these values over time will help indicate when the starter or battery may need replacement. The only part I was uncertain about was the charging test. The instructions say to raise and hold the RPM to 2500 and then press enter. It was not clear to me whether the RPM needs to be held at 2500 at the moment the button is pressed or if the RPM can be raised, released, and then the button pressed afterward. Aside from that uncertainty, I prefer this tester over my other one.The unit is compact, the display and interface are excellent, and the cables and clamps appear durable.Clear display, easy tests, and compact design with durable clamps.

Great Diagnostic Tool for DIY Garage Use.Great Diagnostic Tool for DIY Garage Use.

[Style: BT705 6V & 12V, Style: BT705 6V & 12V]
This battery tester is a handy DIY tool for checking 6V and 12V vehicle batteries. It is not a traditional full-load tester, but instead analyzes battery condition through voltage, voltage recovery, voltage drop under load, cranking performance, and charging system diagnostics. The charging system and cranking tests are especially great for narrowing down whether a problem is battery-related or caused by the vehicle's electrical system. It can also test batteries both on and off the vehicle, adding to its convenience.Setup and operation are simple, and the results are easy to understand. While it may not be rugged enough for heavy-duty, all-day use in a professional shop, it works well for DIY maintenance and troubleshooting. Overall, a useful diagnostic tool that provides more insight than a basic voltmeter without being complicated to use.

Works great and time will tellWorks great and time will tell

[Style: BT705 6V & 12V, Style: BT705 6V & 12V]
BT705 Car Battery Tester comes in a box with manual and USB power cable, Unit does not have a battery to power itself, Uses battery being tested for power, Tester can check 6V 12V batteries, Tester has a bright easy to see screen, Unit can also diagnoses SoC (State of Charge), SoH (State of Health), Resistance, Voltage, Cranking and Charging test,So I was skeptical about this unit and brought out a Harbor Freight load tester to verify and this tester works good fast and accurate,("59% Replace" pictures), I didn't expect a bad battery at this time but here I found out using this tool, I did test unit using USB power if held memory and it does, Good value and time will tell.Diagnostic tool can evaluate the overall health of your vehicle's battery, cranking and charging system. It identifies battery/alternator issues before a breakdown occurs
