As usual, DEFCON has made another absolutely beautiful knife. The ARTIFACT has an excellent feel in the hand, with a comfortable and solid grip that makes it a pleasure to handle.The glow-in-the-dark G10 is absolutely incredible and easily one of the coolest features of this knife. It really lights up and gives the ARTIFACT a unique look that stands out from the rest of my collection. I went with the black blade, and I think it looks fantastic paired with the glowing handle.I probably own around 10 DEFCON knives at this point, and I love every one of them. Their fit, finish, and designs continue to impress me, and the ARTIFACT is no exception.If you’re looking for something unique with excellent hand feel and an incredible glow, this one is definitely worth adding to the collection.

Exceptional value, action as smooth as silk, very sharp and very flicky

I was quite skeptical of this knife given it glows in the dark. The blade is sharp and true. The opening and closing is silky smooth and the handle is light as a feather. I have tested the blade now for a couple weeks and it makes a very nice cut into about anything I could throw at it. This being said I would say it is very very durable. The knife sits at a good size as it can slip perfectly into your pocket. This is a great knife to have on you if you wear one everyday!

This folding knife occupies a footprint similar to the Mini Adamas, though it is noticeably thinner and carries much lighter in a pocket. The crossbar lock functions effectively and the deployment action is smooth due to the internal bearings, which allows the blade to open with minimal effort. While the handle is thin enough to make the knife feel compact, that narrow profile means it can feel cramped during extended use. The localized texturing on the scales provides adequate grip for common utility tasks, and the translucent material is an interesting aesthetic choice for low light visibility.The G10 composite material is brittle, so dropping the tool on hard surfaces can result in chips along the edges. Priced at sixty five dollars, the value proposition is questionable given the use of Sandvik 14C28N steel. While this steel offers decent edge retention and corrosion resistance, it is common to find equivalent or superior tool steels in this price range for a lower cost. It serves as a capable instrument for opening packages or light cutting tasks, but the price is seems high for the materials.

I absolutely LOVE this knife! Sorry it wouldn't let me upload my full video! I've been a knife collector and enthusiast for well over 20 years and the so called "budget category" is where I've found some of my absolute favorites! Defcon makes a dang good knife! They've been doin it a while and this is no exception! This is the Defcon "Artifact". It's a model that they've already had on the market for a long while and probably their most popular EDC folding knife to date. They released this edition with new "Glow in the Dark" G10 scales which are just absolutely awesome! I'm not SUPER big on natural, or jade G10 scales, but it depends on the knife... and this one I love lol! Especially with this black PVD coated wharncliff blade in 14C28N blade steel too! Its one of my FAVORITE blade steels! It has good corrosion resistance and good edge retention. It's an all-around, super well balanced, great steel in the budget category, and in general! I like Defcons version of a wharncliff blade in this design. The wharncliff is probably my favorite blade shape and a sheepsfoot second. This knife overall is very lightweight in the hand, but extremely ergonomic and comfortable! It's very slim due to there being no liners and the blade stock is super slicy-thin too! It's very thin behind the edge, which makes for good cuts. This came razor sharp out of the box too. You gotta love that. The handle scales are supposed to be G10 and they're not milled for weight reduction either, but they're cut very thin and are still super lightweight. I have to say that the way they made them is a mystery, because they don't feel OR look like G10 in the hand. They almost look and feel like a type of foggy glass... or a foggy tumbled stone. It looks exactly like semi-precious "Adventurine"! If you've never seen Adventurine, look it up! It's absolutely beautiful! This knife sports a crossbar-lock(axis-lock) as well, which makes this knife ambidextrous.. and they also made the pocket clip reversible too, so it's a good knife for the "Lefty's" and the "Righty's" alike. Defcon does a bang up job with their crossbar locks too! The omega springs are just right. Not too thick or thin, and not too loose or too springy and tight. They're just right, which makes for a swift and clean action. The blade just glides right out. Smooth as silk. You'll see in my photos and videos as well that the "Glow-in-the-Dark" scales glow bright as ever! I don't know how they did it, but dang they really do glow bright! I'm not too big on glow-in-the-dark stuff, but this WOULD come in handy if you dropped your knife in the woods or anywhere at nighttime. If anything it's a cool conversation piece. Overall this knife has a great fit and finish. I usually like my EDC (Everyday Carry) knives a little bigger. Something a little more robust in the hand and a longer blade for better slicing and utility... But this knife is a perfectly well thought out, all around, very versatile, utilitarian knife! It's thin, but very ergonomic and fits perfectly in the hand. It has a good amount of jimping where the thumb sits for strong grip when needing to apply decent pressure for cuts, and the look is just super modern, sleek and cool! Jade G10 goes great with a black blade. Especially with all blacked out hardware and pocket clip. Idk what else to say here, lol. In my opinion it's WELL worth the money! If you haven't tried one of defcon's knives before, it's something you definitely need to do! Great job Defcon, and thank you for the awesome knife! I couldn't be happier! It's all love from here!

The Defcon Artifact pocket knife is light for having a 3.25” blade with a comfortable 4” handle. It is also slim enough once folded to fit comfortably in a pocket. The blade is made from Swedish company, Sandvik 14C28N knife steel. This material has gained a reputation of being reliable with high toughness and resistance to corrosion, while also providing good edge retention. The blade is held in place by a crossbar lock, which has become my favorite blade lock type. It is ambidextrous, easy to release and provides excellent protection from accidental blade closure. The G10 handle has a light texture for better grip and it is backed with a metal liner that only extends about one inch into the handle. The G10 material is stiff enough to still eliminate any noticeable flex when using the knife. The bearings are smooth and hold the blade securely.This is the second knife I have owned with a sheepsfoot blade. The linear edge is easy to sharpen, though the knife tip can wear out more quickly than the rest of the blade. It works great for opening packages along with whittling and cutting twine. The handle is glow in the dark, however I mostly carry it deep in a pocket where there is little light exposure to charge the photoluminescence. It could possibly come in handy if searching for it in the dark after use during the day.

First, the basics: Knife as described, excellent factory edge, black coating looks good in person- not quite matte finish, maybe eggshell, does show hand oil and dust but satisfying to clean.The lock only latches when the blade is fully open, so due to low bearing resistance and blade mass, the knife can be flipped open with only a moderately aggressive flick of the wrist. Lock mechanism and bearing are very smooth. Pocket clip is very tight but possible to adjust if desired. Clip only screws to one side of the knife body (doesn't accommodate mirrored use for left handers). Lanyard hole on both sides of the handle. Balance point is reasonable; forward of the index finger as expected for a lightweight handle. Good build quality that supports the budget-premium price point: no play in the fasteners or blade stop or bearing performance.The special features: Yes, the fiberglass is lightweight and glows in the dark if previously "charged" by ambient light. There's some small areas of localized added roughness to assist grip, which is a unique detail- others texture the entire handle. The glow feature is reasonably bright but requires the knife to be exposed to light to charge, and uncovered to be visible- it's unclear to me how this works in daily use.The lightweight handle paired with the wider blade doesn't optimize for low mass, but small tradeoff if you like the blade style.One cool effect is that the G10 is translucent, so the outlines of metal pieces including latch spring are visible through the side of the knife.The value for money is reasonable but not a slam-dunk: You have to really like the brand or the design/features for this to make sense.Bottom line: If you like the blade style and want the glow fiberglass handle, and you're not left handed, take note of the mostly-smooth rather than all-textured handle design before buying and check your local laws regarding the latch. Beyond all of that, it's a good knife for the price.
