Nothing fantastic here, but for under $20 I was not expecting a premium knife. This is basically your typical gas station knife, although honestly it is a pretty decent example of one. The black and red dragon design looks cool, the aluminum handle feels reasonably solid, and the knife feels surprisingly good in the hand. It is easy to use and relatively small, making it a good option for smaller hands or anyone looking for a compact EDC knife that does not take up much pocket space. The blade arrived sharp enough for normal everyday tasks, and edge retention has been respectable for an inexpensive stainless steel blade. The liner lock works properly, and the glass breaker and seat belt cutter add some extra utility. Obviously, this is not going to compete with a Kershaw or other quality EDC knife in terms of steel, action, construction, or long-term durability, but it also costs a fraction of the price. Keep your expectations appropriate and there is a lot to like here. Comfortable, compact, easy to use, cool looking, and overall good value for a sub-$20 knife.

The knife is a small, mid weight. I gauge it as "mid weight" because it doesn't have that "tin" feeling a lot of aluminum knives get, but it's heavy enough you can put force on it.Initially the blade was a little stiff, it after a few days, I was able to open it with one hand. The clip is sturdy, and holds well.The colors and dragon design are bright and clear. If they had adjusted the placement just a little, the screw wouldn't touch the dragon at all.Several sections of the handle have places you can see and feel where the texturing in the aluminum has errors from machining.It cuts tape and cardboard. It's advertised as being able to break windows and seatbelts, which is has obvious points for - but did not come with any materials to test.A lot of the knife's appeal is ornamental, having multiple errors in the texturing (which impacts the literal texture at those points) drops the rating. This is not a knife I would buy for myself to carry around to open boxes at work. The design features need to come up to match the rest of the product.

So far I’m happy with this knife. For comparison, I’ve had a few kershaws, and this Dispatch doesn’t quite have the weighty sturdy feeling of their higher end $80+ knives, but feels better made than the $30 one I’ve had. It’s smaller than I expected, which is ideal for portability considering I’ll mostly be using this for light tasks like opening boxes. I appreciate the glass breaker and the thread cutter, which ups the utility enough that this may become my casual-daily knife. I’ll probably still take my higher end ones for camping and heavy work tasks.Opening the blade could be a bit easier. The flip action can take a bit more pressure than ideal, from both the notch on the blade and the tab on back. Perhaps if I lubricated the hinge it could get smoother. But it locks well both open and closed, and is easy to close.The stylized painted dragon engraving and textured aluminum gives the corny vibe of a corner-store/gas station purchase, which won’t be for everyone, but I kind of love it. I doubt the longevity of the colored sections as I can already spot some wear on the edges, but as long as it doesn’t affect the functionality I’m not concerned.This is basically everything i’d expect from a decent lower end knife, so I’m satisfied.

I can't really express how fed up I am with every flashlight, hoodie and pocket knife somehow magically becoming a "tactical" innovation, implying that they are all mission critical bits of gear that you can stake your life on. And while this is very good functioning little lock blade, as a former SERE Instructor I find that it's somewhere between better than nothing and and my old Scout knife.The belt cutter does perform, and the blade comes right out of the box with a decently honed burr removed edge that'll shave your arm, but that tactical bit still eats at me. The blade deploys very quickly, with no effort at all, and gives the look of some sort of spring assist while there is none at all, so perhaps that's where they get their tactical ideas, but again, I can think of no application where I would want this over a proper tactically purposed blade when my life may depend on it.Still, it's a decent, although little thing. I have pretty large paws, so most knives from Old Timer size on down feel like toothpicks to me, but I guess if I'm buckled in and my truck goes into the drink I'd rather have this than a screwdriver or a wrench. The glass breaker will get the job done, and the business end is, I guess useful if I ever get attacked by a rabbit, but the blade's too deep for efficiently working a hide off of a deer, and I don't care for the useless little holes along the spine that'll hold onto little bits of gore, so why are they even there? I guess if you're into dragons and this fits your idea of cool, great, but tactical to me means a practical, serious work knife, whatever the type of work, and this doesn't really get there for me.

This 3.5" Black Aluminum Handle Folding Knife with a Crimson Dragon Engraving has a nice balance between everyday practicality and emergency preparedness. It has the look of a collector's knife thanks to the detailed Crimson Dragon engraving on the black aluminum handle, but it is built to be used.The 3.5 inch blade opens smoothly with the dual thumb studs and locks securely into place with the liner lock. I found the handle comfortable to hold while using for lighter uses, even during longer cutting tasks, and the textured aluminum scales provide a confident grip without adding unnecessary weight. It carries comfortably in a pocket and feels solid without being bulky. The blade needed slight sharpening, just a few passes through an electric sharpener, but once I got it razor sharp it held the edge after five days of everyday use.This knife is an excellent choice to keep in the car or an emergency kit. The integrated emergency glass breaker and seat belt cutter are nice to have.The knife looks better than the pictures depict. I have the black and red version. The dragon engraving gives the knife a distinctive appearance without affecting its functionality. It makes for a conversation piece while still performing well for everyday jobs like opening packages, cutting rope, trimming plastic, and handling general camp chores.The downside to this knife is its size. The knife is small. My hands are large and I found that for heavier usage the knife was slightly difficult to hold firmly.Overall, this is a well-rounded everyday carry knife that combines attractive styling with practical features.Compared to other knives of this size and emergency features, the knife is a fair value.

This knife is 6.1-inches long when opened and 3.5-inches long when folded for carrying. The blade is 2.6-inches long and has a relatively wide blade with a drop point. The blade has a maximum thickness of 0.98-inches by my measurement. The manufacturer’s name (DISPATCH®) has been etched into the left side of the blade.This knife’s blade has a very smooth black satin finish. When opened, the blade is locked in place with a common liner-lock mechanism. The blade has bi-lateral thumb studs for opening the knife, if desired. The blade also has as a flipper protrusion for rapid one-handed deployment using the index finger. The liner lock has jimping along the length of the liner-lock edge.This product’s Amazon page leaves something to be desired, as far as specific, detailed information about the product and its construction are concerned. The steel used to make this knife’s blade is not specified except for the description of the material being “stainless-steel”. Therefore, no conclusions about the strength or hardness of the blade can be drawn.This knife has several interesting features. The first is a hardened steel glass breaker that is incorporated into the proximal end of the knife body. This could be used in an emergency situation where the user is trapped inside a vehicle after an accident and needs to break a window to exit the vehicle. A related feature is the seatbelt cutter provision that is located immediately forward of the glass breaker device. The flat surfaces of the grips are black in color and the surface has been engraved to display a stylized dragon motif. There are also additional straight lines that have been engraved in the design along with a small portion of jimping that has been added proximal to the blade’s flip lever for opening. The engraved lines and the beveled edges around the edges of the grips are all a bright crimson color which provides considerable contrast with the black color.
