This light is simple, with industrial strength, and industrial quality. It's very heavy and sturdy. It won't tip over easily. The base is cool. It's long and flat so it can slide under furniture easily. It's quite tall. You can walk under it and the light is diffuse across a big area so even though it's very bright and lights up the room, you can look directly at the light without it hurting your eyes. I very much appreciate the indirect light, which is on the top, because it can cast a soft glow in the room without actually looking like there's a light on. And compared to other models in this series, this one has a distinct advantage in having very easy-to-follow controls. If you have someone who's older or not techy, the more complicated ones can sure have a lot of cool features but the remote and all the buttons get confusing. This is really simple: you turn it on and off and it goes back to your last setting or you can adjust (top only, bottom only, and dimming) very easily.

We needed a strong, focused light source for our living room reading nook, and this lamp definitely delivers on brightness. The touch dimming feature is very responsive, making it easy to dial the light back when we just want some ambient glow instead of the full blast. The 4000K color temperature is a nice neutral white—not too warm and yellow, and not too harsh like a hospital blue. Visually, it’s very minimalist and doesn't take up much physical space in the corner. The base is heavy enough that it doesn't feel wobbly on our carpet, and getting it assembled took maybe five minutes.

This is the most amazing floor lamp I've ever seen! It's heavy! It doesn't take long to put it together. It's very easy, with just 6 screws and 2 plugs. The actual light portion is huge. I love how you can choose to have it shine from the top, bottom, or both. You can also dim each of them by sliding your finger down the pole. I'm blown away by how bright it is! It's perfect to slide the base under furniture so it's out of the way. I love everything about this thing. It's the best floor lamp I've ever seen. If I could give more stars, I would.

I thought I might break a leg constantly tripping over the cord to my spouse's work lamp on the dining table (Why he can't work at a desk is a mystery). I wanted to get him a floor lamp that could be his task light that could have a softer light when he's not working.This Sterren 9000LM dimming light is *that* light, dimming being the key word. The side facing down is task lighting. The top facing the ceiling gives a soft ambient light. Each side has it's own dimmer. They can be used independently, or together. When both are turned all the way up, it makes MORE light than the 4 recessed ceiling lights in this 22' by 28' room It's astonishing.It’s huge. It’s heavy. They suggest 2 people for assembly, but I carefully did it myself on a rug. The difficult part was standing it up. The secret is to turn it over so that the 'spine' isn't on the floor, only the tip of the base and the light are. Stand at the base end of the light, grab the bar, and lift it pulling towards you on the base end. Easy.It wont hurt your floors, there's a thin foam piece covering the underside of the base that not only protects your floor, it is practically slide proof. Don't buy this if you plan on scooting it around on a hard floor all the time.It's industrial level sturdy. It would take a LOT to tip it over. The more decorative floor lamps I looked at now look uselessbecause this one acts as 2 different lights, one pointing up, one pointing down, or down, or both. It can give soft, intense, or in between light.It's absolutely the best way I could have spent my money, a great value. We're both happy, and that's really saying something. I'd give it 10 stars if I could.
