Adjustable 3‑Hole Punch with Heavy‑Duty LeverAdjustable 3‑Hole Punch with Heavy‑Duty Lever

[Color: Blue, Color: Blue]
This is a good quality hole puncher. It is easy to use and lightweight. We've used two different styles over the years. One, they definitely weren't good for 50 sheets, and two, not made as well as this heavy-duty hole puncher. Time will tell if this holds up, of course, but judging by its construction and mostly metal body, I expect many years of service from it. I did try 50 sheets and I will say it was a little challenging as I found myself stuffing that many sheets in. So, the stated 50 sheets may be at the smallest weight of paper. But, it did punch through all sheets with little effort, although, I did push down the lever with more force than I was expecting. I also tried 30 pages and it pushed down like there was hardly any paper in it at all. So, the lever has good torque to it. I also like the handle being wide enough that you can use two hands. When I was smashing through 50 sheets, for example, I found using two hands helpful.Overall, this three-hole punch is worth the money at its current price. It is much more versatile than other run-of-the-mill punchers regarding sturdiness, amount you can punch at a time, and adjusting the item for different sizes of paper.

Works great for the most part

The Afmat 3-hole punch really is heavy duty and has a substantial feel to its construction. Unlike some other hole punches, the tray clips to the bottom so it doesn't fall off when you move the punch to empty it. Price-wise: pretty good. My only complaint is that it doesn't punch cleanly; on closer inspection, it appears that the punches weren't deburred very well, so sharpening will probably fix that.

[Color: Blue, Color: Blue]
After operating businesses for more than 40 years, I have used more disappointing hole punches than I care to remember. This AFMAT punch is a delightful exception: it is exceptionally well constructed, easy to operate, and surprisingly affordable for the quality. One feature that makes a substantial difference is the design of the punch pins. Rather than having a simple round cutting edge, each pin has two points that begin the cut cleanly and continue through the material with less resistance. I tested it on a thick, coated cardstock product tag, and it produced a clean, precise hole with very little effort. The punch is also heavy and stable enough to remain exactly where I place it. It does not walk or shift at the last second as pressure is applied. Because it rests securely on the work surface, I can apply even pressure and accurately punch something as small as a product tag. The metal paper guide holds its position reliably, which is essential for the consistent placement I need in our woodworking business. The large chip tray is easy to empty and keeps the paper confetti contained. Nothing about this punch feels flimsy, from the frame and handle to the adjustable punching heads and guide. It is a substantial, thoughtfully designed tool that feels built for many years of dependable use.

Helpful, not small though

Every year, there comes a point when our dining room table disappears under stacks of paper. School forms, work documents, recipes I promised myself I'd organize someday, it all seems to land in one place. This hole punch showed up at just the right time. It's much heavier than the little office punch I'd been using for years, but that's part of what I like about it. It stays put on the table, and it handles thick stacks of paper without struggling. The longer handle makes punching easier. I don't have to push nearly as hard, even with a good sized stack. I also like that the punch heads can be adjusted, so switching between two hole and three hole punching is simple. The paper guide helps keep everything lined up, which saves me from redoing pages that end up crooked and let’s be real, there is no fixing or undoing the holes once they have been punched. The tray that catches the punched holes. It holds plenty before it needs to be emptied, so I'm not constantly stopping to dump little paper circles into the trash. The only downside is its size. It's definitely not something you'll tuck into a small desk drawer, and it's fairly heavy to move around. But if you use a hole punch often or deal with large stacks of paper, I think that's a fair trade. After one evening of organizing, all those loose papers were finally in binders instead of scattered across the table. That's about as satisfying as household chores get.

This is honestly the best hole punch tool I have ever had. First and foremost, it looks great and is definitely very well built. Second, the ease of use and power is surprising in the best way possible. In all honestly, I was very skeptical when it claimed to have a 50-sheet capacity because it is very compact but I put it to the test and it absolutely delivered. As you can see from the second picture, I actually put a 70-sheet spiral notebook in there which has 70 pages PLUS the cardboard cover and back and this went through the whole thing with very little effort.Great product at a great price and super easy to use so I would definitely recommend it for anyone, whether it be an office, a student or even someone that does crafts.

[Color: Green, Color: Green]
Overall, this is a nice hole punch. It makes quick work out of punching piles of paper and the hole cutters are easily adjustable for different sizes of paper. The cutters were pretty sharp (though I cannot say how they will hold up over time) although they did leave some ragged edges on the very last sheet in the stack.I'm removing a star, however, because of a couple of little nitpicks. First there's a LOT of grease on this thing. I certainly understand that they want to ensure all the parts that rub together will move smoothly but I got a big wad of grease on my hand just pulling this out of the box. And then I noticed on my punched pages that there is grease around the edges of the holes. I've been using this for a few weeks and I'm STILL getting grease on my pages so I would try your first punches on scrap paper and if you're getting grease around the edges of the holes, you might want to wipe the cutters with a rag before hole-punching.The second thing I don't like is the punch tray. Sure, it's big but it is REALLY hard to empty without making a mess. It's very hard to get off because the tray takes up the entire underside of the hole-punch and it attaches with a whole bunch of snaps around the edge of the tray. I could barely get the thing off empty (in my picture I only lifted it up) so I know this is going to be a pain when it is full of hole-punches and I try to do it slowly so I don't make a mess. It's likely going to be a horror show of raining hole-punches and my grumbling with the broom sweeping up the mess.Despite the grease and the hard-to-open punch tray, this is a decent punch. It can punch a LOT of paper at once with little effort and it can be adjusted in just a minute or two to switch to other sizes of paper. Really, as long as you remember to check for excess grease before you start punching and ensure you empty it over a large bin, you should be good. Definitely a strong 4-star product.
