We've been updating some of the lighting in our house, and I really like the combination of matte black and milk glass on this fixture. It has a classic schoolhouse shape without looking dated, and it's much more interesting than the basic builder-grade flush mounts that tend to end up in hallways and smaller rooms.The semi-flush design gives it a little more presence without hanging too far down from the ceiling. The thick milk glass also softens the appearance of the bulbs and looks substantial rather than cheap. I think this would work especially well in a hallway, smaller entryway, bedroom, or kitchen where you want an easy lighting update that adds some personality.

This ceiling light has a nice, simple design which allows it to match many different decor styles. The electrical connection and mount are good quality. The light was well packaged which is important as the glass could easily get broken in transport if it were not. It is a good value as it is priced comparably to other similar fixtures I have purchased and installed. I really like the simplicity of this fixture - it gives it a timeless appeal.

We just put this lovely schoolhouse light in my daughter’s bedroom closet and it has completely transformed the space. The matte black finish and thick opal glass give it such a classic and clean look that added a touch of elegance. You can feel and see the quality material used in the thick glass fixture and even the junction box is sturdy.I just love how the milk glass diffuses the light so it is nice and bright without any harsh glare when she is picking out her outfits. Since the closet has standard ceilings, the semi-flush profile fits perfectly without hanging down too low or feeling bulky.My husband had it up in no time at all without any issues because it came with all the hardware and the instructions were very straightforward. It uses a standard bulb and we paired it with a dimmer switch so she can easily adjust the brightness whenever she needs to.We all love it and do feel this ceiling light is worth its value.

This is a beautiful 11.4-inch matte black semi-flush mount ceiling light with a thick glass shade.The manufacturer describes the shade's silhouette as timeless; that’s because it was traditionally used for lights, particularly in schools and government buildings. That’s why they call it a schoolhouse.Gives a soft, warm light that’s relatively free. It has one E26 socket, which you probably know is the standard American lightbulb socket that’s been used for more than 120 years and for which there are literally thousands of variations, and the maximum watch that is permissible by this manufacturer is 60 W. Using 60 W of LED lighting power is more than you ever want to use. Unless you’re doing floodlights in the backyard.For most purposes that you like to put this light too, which would be in a hallway and entranceway kitchen bedroom living room you’re gonna want probably something like a 15 or 18 W LED light and because it’s basically a sealed shade you don’t have to get a Edison type lightbulb, any kind of LED light bulb you wish it will fit your E 26 socket installation according the manufacturer was easyBut as with all electrical installations, I have three caveats I like to mention to people who want to do it themselves.First, make certain that you’ve turned the power off at the circuit breaker control panel box. The best way to do this is to have a friend standby the junction box that you’re about to begin working on with the light that is already in that junction box on and talking to you on their cell phone so that you can turn circuit breakers off until you get the right one then you can flash a few times just to make sure you’ve got the right circuit breaker.Second, because this is electrical work, if you want to check twice, even though you believe you turned the correct circuit breaker off, use an electrical testing device and check each of your wires in the junction box to make certain that none of them are still energized. Another reason to do this is that sometimes people doing electrical work believe multiple sets of wires in the junction box are going to different locations, and some of them will still be energized. Do you want to make certain you don’t make a mistake along these lines?Many, many folks don’t know how to use walk nuts correctly. 95% of manufacturers selling lighting fixtures use lock nuts to connect to the house service bars. In the US, the House service bars are 14-gauge single-strand copper. In most cases, the lighting fixture lights are going to be 26- or 28-gauge multi-strand copper. Remove the last half centimeter from each of the wires you wish to put together: the black wire from the house and the black wire from the fixture. Place the points pointing in the same direction adjacent to each other; cover both points for the wire lockout, and turn it clockwise until a firm, mechanical, one-electrical connection has been established. Do the same thing with the white one, and the same thing with the green.This is a beautiful lighting fixture; follow the manufacturer's instructions. Be careful, and you won't have any problems, and once installed, it’ll give you years of service.

The box included clear installation instructions for those who need them, and everything needed for installation except the hand tools, and was easy to install.This light cover in smooth white milk glass is sleek and modernistic, but also has a minimalistic feel, and would look equally good in many settings, even perhaps farmhouse. The entire unit appears well-made. It is priced within the market averages, and is well worth the listed price.
