I've been using light socket adapters for years as a temporary way to power lights, battery chargers, and other low-draw equipment, so when I found one with an integrated extension cord I thought it was going to solve one of my biggest frustrations.That extension cord is easily this adapter's best feature. On a typical porch lantern, a standard light socket adapter leaves the receptacle trapped inside the fixture where it's difficult to plug anything in. With this design, the receptacle hangs below the lantern where it's actually accessible while still allowing the light bulb to remain installed. That alone makes the product far more functional for the way I use it. The molded housing, cord, and strain relief also feel durable enough for repeated use in my service truck.Before putting it into service, I verified its operation with a meter. I measured approximately 120 volts at the receptacle, and the outlet functioned as expected. Unfortunately, I also found two issues that kept this from becoming the solution I hoped it would be.The first issue is the weather guard inside the bulb socket. The retaining ring and rubber seal are so deep that several standard LED bulbs with the common flared base would not screw in far enough to make electrical contact. My photos show the bulb installed with 120 volts available at the outlet, yet the bulb wouldn't illuminate. After removing only the weather seal and retaining ring, the exact same bulb threaded in normally and worked perfectly. Reinstalling the weather guard and using a narrow socket extender also allowed the bulb to work, which confirmed the interference was caused by the weather guard itself. If you plan to use common A19-style LED bulbs, this is something to be aware of.My second concern is the three-prong receptacle. Since this adapter installs into a standard two-wire light socket, I wanted to verify whether the grounding pin provided an actual equipment ground. Using continuity testing, I was able to confirm the hot and neutral conductors but could not verify a bonded ground conductor. Because of that, I treated this as an ungrounded outlet and only used it with equipment that doesn't rely on an equipment ground. I wish the product documentation addressed this more clearly.I really wanted this to be a five-star product because the extension cord solves a genuine problem that other light socket adapters don't. Unfortunately, the bulb interference caused by the weather guard and the uncertainty surrounding the grounding conductor are significant enough that I can only give it three stars. The idea is excellent, but I think the design still needs some refinement.

This is a handy device, easy to install, with the overall length of the cord at about 1 foot. This means you have some slack if you want to move around while using a tool with this. The adapter fits most sockets, and it has a flexible rubber collar around its socket to help with any moisture it might encounter when used on a porch or patio. The extension cord is molded into the fixture and accepts both 2- and 3-prong plugs. It doesn't swivel, but the cord is very flexible.This adapter is rated for 10A at 125V, which equals 1,250 watts maximum, but most sockets are rated to about 1/2 that. Check your socket's markings before plugging in high-wattage devices. I wouldn't plug in anything that draws substantial current for any length of time. I'd stick with corded hand tools, chargers, radios, etc.All in all, a well built adapter.

This 3-in-1 light socket adapter is exactly what I needed in my garage to add an electrical outlet using out ceiling light without all of the hassles of running new wiring, etc. It is a great solution to tap into power that is already in place. It is very quick and easy to install in less than 2 minutes. The maximum wattage is 600W for the 3-pronged outlet, so it isn't great for higher powered plug-in tools like saws, but to charge batteries, add additional lighting, etc., this is a great solution for those applications. For $13, this is a great value for the money in my opinion. It certainly beats the cost of running new wiring, boxes, and receptacles. The socket area measures approximately 3.5" long and there is a 9.6" cord length on the outlet. When removing the bulb, simply screw this socket into the existing socket, then screw the bulb into the socket at the bottom. Once completed, you still have your lightbulb like normal, but now you have a usable outlet too. It is quality made and durable, for a great price, and I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone!
