I've used this bolt extractor set on a couple of stubborn, rounded bolts that regular sockets couldn't grip, and it worked surprisingly well. The extractor sockets bite into the damaged bolt securely and give you enough grip to finally break it loose.I also like the variety of sizes included, since it makes the set useful for different automotive and home repair projects. I had tried other 2 extraction products to unscrew one T40 torx bolt, they both don't work. This is the one that solved my problem.

These tools come in handy on stripped and rusted hardware. I ordered this kit to replace a different kit I have that I lost some of the pieces. If you have any hardware with exposed threads you should use a drill with a wire wheel or brush to clean the rust from any threads which will make removing easier. Then soak the nut or bolt in penetrating oil. You then beat the extractor onto the nut or bolt head with a hammer and begin removing. An impact gun is much better than just a wrench. The impact motion is much less likely to snap a bolt and gives you a much better chance at success. Any stripped nuts or bolts that aren’t rusty I had great success with this tool. Rusty stuff can be much trickier, but if you prep correctly it will have better chances of working. I’ve had about 70% success with rusty hardware. Definitely a helpful tool.
