Forstner Drill Bit for Woodworking

These Forstner bits are solid. I have a CNC machine and usually use that to make things, but I’m at the point where it is sometimes faster to drill the holes on our drill press instead of waiting for the CNC to cut a million circles.I happened to have a project where this size was a perfect fit, and the bits have worked great. I have experienced little to no tear-out, and the cutting edges have stayed sharp so far.These bits are huge. Personally, I do not think they would be safe or appropriate to use in a handheld drill, but they work great on a drill press.I love these things. Good value for the money. They worked exactly as I needed them to, so I’m happy to give them 5 stars.

These ZOMIYU 2-Pack 3/4" Forstner Bits work great! Solid construction and very sharp. So far they've held up well, through 20+ holes and remain just as sharp as when I got them. Pretty great value in my opinion. Would definitely recommend for DIY work!

Where have these been all my life. I still managed to have some tearout but I was too lazy to use tape. What it DIDN'T do was break my wrist like a paddle bit when it gets caught! Much smoother.I don't use these often so I kept one and gave one to my father.

These are great quality Forster bits. They are super sharp and have a nice cutter design that makes a nice flat bottom hole. They are strong, stable and centered truly. The 5/16” size is as true and accurate as I can measure and work perfectly for my use. I use them chucked in a small lathe to drill a hole into the wood blank and then serve as the tail stock for the final shaping and sanding. Due to the way I use them I really appreciate the stability of the thick hardened steel shank. Definitely a good bit and a good value for the price.

So, I would like to give this 5-stars because it is a quality bit, but it is not exactly 3/4 (19.05)". It is actually 18.91mm, and I needed a true 3/4". If my tolerances were not so tight, it would likely work. I am keeping the bits, but buyers should be aware that they are a bit undersized.

As someone who’s just getting into woodworking, I didn’t have a Forstner bit in my collection yet, but I could already think of several projects where one would have been useful—especially for installing concealed cabinet hinges or drilling clean recessed holes.These bits are incredibly sharp. The cutting edges grab the wood effortlessly, so I’d recommend handling them with care. I tested one on a scrap piece of pine, and it cut through smoothly with very little effort while leaving a clean, flat-bottomed hole with crisp edges. The hole itself, impressively smooth to touch.I was a little nervous that the bit would catch and twist the small piece of wood out of my hands, but it tracked nicely and stayed under control. The finished hole looked clean and professional.One thing I really like about Forstner bits is that they’re useful for much more than hinges. They’re great for drilling flat-bottom recesses for magnets or hardware, creating counterbores for bolt heads, and making precise woodworking joints where a standard drill bit just won’t work as well.For around $17, getting two bits feels like a good value. The machining looks clean, the cutting edges are impressively sharp, and based on my experience so far, they perform exactly as they should. I’m glad to have these in my growing woodworking toolbox.
