I needed to replace the end on my welders extension cable and this one worked out much better than what I had originally used on it. The old one was from the local big box store and was one of the types really meant to be mounted on a wall, and the housing just wasn't up to being tossed around and used on an extension cord. This one is much more rugged, as it is designed for use on extensions cords and it should hold up much better over time. Installation was easy and it had no problem mounting to my 6awg cable. The end was also a nice, tight fit when mated with the connector on my welder. Price wise, this one was also cheaper than the original version I had purchased locally, and it is a much higher quality receptacle. Overall, I am pleased with this cord end and would recommend it.

Very nice 6-50 femal plug!Installation was pretty straight forward, but did take a little finesse to get the wire in place. Heavy gauge wire is not easy to bend in small places. But overall, that did not detract anything from my opinion.The plug is almost identical to most other 6-50 plugs and fits perfectly with the several outlets I have/use.the plastic it is molded out of feels nice and think and should be very durable in a shop, field setting.Overall, I would say this is worth the price for anyone that needs to repair a plug or make their own extentions.

This outlet seems very well made, and with a little care it should last a long time. I'm not sure how well it would hold up in an industrial setting, but for the average home workshop it should be more than adequate. Especially for how little it cost.The grip on the backside was very well thought out. It gives you an excellent hold on the outlet when unplugging your welder. I used it on an extension cord for the occasional times the welding project is too big to fit in the shop. This works perfectly. For the price, I honestly don't think you can beat it.

This is not a heavy duty or full 50A receptacle.The plug feels like decent plastic and it is easy to plug and unplug.The weaknesses on this is how thin the contacts are. They are about half as thick as another receptacle I have. The cable clamping on them is also terrible and there is not a good way to clamp 8 or 6 awg wire that you would need to push the 50A this is supposed to be rated for.Overall ok for a small welder extension, but I wouldn't trust it for any more than 30 or so amps of a 10awg cable.

Okay so it was time to address the elephant in the shop - my welder extension cord. I don’t normally have to use the extension on a daily basis, but from time to time I need to move the welder to the other side of the shop or just out the door. The extension cord I had been using was getting pretty ratty as you can only do so much with duct tape and electrical tape - besides, it just didn’t look very professional. So when this female plug became available, I knew exactly what I had to do. For under $16 for a high quality ETL listed plug, it’s a great value. There’s not a LOT of room inside for your connections, but just enough so the installation is pretty easy.. The strain relief is strong and ready hangs onto the cable tightly and seems very durable. The 3-hole grip on the back is great to help support the outlet as you are unplugging from it. The only minus I have here is that the grip strength of the outlet is just not as tight as I would normally like. It still works well, but after a few years of regular use, you might find that it’s just not up to the task. So durability is a matter of time while being used nd if you follow my reviews - you know that I do update them when needed. If you have need of a NEMA 6-50R, check this one out.I hope this helps you make your decision!I keep up with my reviews and will revisit this one should the need arise.I give this 3-prong receptacle my Big-Foot “Stomp” of approval and 4 stars!

Really solid connector! In my head it only takes 5 minutes to install both ends on a wire and you're off to the races but in reality it's like an hour has passed and you just finished fighting placing 10lbs of stuff in a 5lb bag. I highly suggest you read the instructions and make each wire the suggested length, but I'd peel back about 1/2" more of the main jacket this should enable you to get more flexibility when trying to get terminals into the plug itself. Wire this size is really stiff it's easy to measure identically to instructions and not consider their relationship in 3d space.The holes in the back make it really easy to connect and seperate this connector!If I had to choose a negative the female receptacle uses 3 Phillips screws requiring you to split the stripped strands into two parts like a "v" and keeping all together as one under a set screw like a breaker or lug feels easier to work with.

I received this product for free through the Amazon Vine program to provide an honest review.I'm not sure why the company EPLESFTON is using ETL certification from Intertek as a selling point, because their directory of companies that are certified is pretty easy to find. I've included a screenshot of their claim and a picture of the instruction manual, which lists this certification.I checked the intertek ETL verified directory of cabling products companies and "EPLESFTON" is not on it. This makes me suspect the quality and safety of this item.Upon disassembly, I checked the conductive prongs and they are non-magnetic and appear to be solid brass, which is good for conductivity.The plastic material isn't the same plastic used in a lot of other plugs of this size that I use. It's a harder less flexible plastic.This may make it easier to shatter or crack if dropped, which could present and electrical shock hazard. If you were using this for an extension cable, like shown in the sellers example, the cable is going to be subjected to extra hazards, such as dropping on hard surfaces or being knocked around. This is something to consider.If you exercise care with use of this plug, this may never be an issue with you but it's worth being cautious.If you decide to use this, I'd recommend keeping a close eye on this plug until you've used it for a while, especially with higher amperage settings.The price is comparable to actual certified products, so if I had to chose, I'd probably buy the certified product from a local store, since they were actually tested for safety. It wouldn't make sense to have your shop burn down over $7.00 savings.I'd really like to see an answer from amazon or EPLESFTON to my original findings about not being on the Intratek ETL certification list before installing and using it, so for now, I'm just doing a visual inspection and review. I'll update my review when I get an explanation from amazon.
