We replaced our plastic driveway drain cover with this heavy-duty metal cast iron drain cover. The difference is huge. Before, we would have to remove the plastic drain cover and put a piece of plywood over the drain to drive over it. This new cast iron drain cover is durable and handles being driven over with our car and pickup truck. It does not flex or buckle. It fits in our 12 × 12 drain hole perfectly and does not rattle.I recommend this if you have a drain hole that you need to drive over. This is a great value and a huge upgrade from a plastic grate.The open grate holes allow water to flow in while catching most leaves and debris we get during the monsoon storms. Cleaning it out is easy; just pull up on the drain rails, and I use a small broom and dustpan to clean what fell in.It has developed the surface oxidation that is expected and protects it from further rusting. It has been holding up fine after a few months.

This is what I was looking for when I didn't know what it was called and nobody in any hardware store knew what I was talking about. Luckily I found a plastic one that I wasn't thrilled with because if its instability and lack of weight, but it did prevent the leaves from coughing the drain.This is the perfect fit for what I need it for. I have a drain at the bottom of the steps to a basement apartment I live in, so basically everything falls down there... Mostly water and leaves.This grate has a little bit larger gaps, but it still works just fine. The best part about it is the weight. It stays exactly where I placed it rather than wobble and slide around like my previous one.Best product for keeping leaves out of drains for a good price.

I got this drain grate for an outdoor drainage project, and the first thing I noticed was how solid and substantial it feels. This cast iron grate is exactly what I needed. The gutters on the house on one side end at the driveway. Over the years it has damaged the driveway and we must now restore it. This heavy duty cast iron drain grate is being installed for a water management in the new driveway. It is clearly strong enough for the occasional drive-over.It looks really nice and it's very heavy. While the concrete was being cast around the new underground drain system next to the driveway, I wrapped this cast iron grate very tightly in a couple of trash bags. While finishing up the concrete around the new drain I placed this new grate in place and smooth the concrete out. Once everything was cured a few days later I carefully lifted and pride out the drain grate, unwrapped it from the plastic, and it sat right back down into the concrete we formed around the drain pipes underground.I don't know if that makes sense or if it's the right way to go about things, but it worked great and it looks very professional thanks to this quality product.

Many people including me collect water from their roofs in rain barrels in this dry area of New Mexico. It's usual to have a screen at the top of the rain barrel to prevent mosquitos from breeding in the barrels. There is a problem in the winter when icicles fall from the roof drains onto the screens and break them. I have wanted a grate to protect the screen on one of my barrels so I ordered this grate. The drain is about 15 feet above the barrel so I need a strong grate. This grate is very strong and perfect for protecting the screen and barrel from ice damage.The pictures in the listing are confusing because there are a number of sizes to choose from. My grate is about a foot square and has 6 slots that run the full width of the grate. The grate has a rustic appearance. It's rough and solid. The paint is mostly good but there were a couple of small rust spots on the underside. The top has lettering as shown in my picture. I didn't get it so it would look pretty so I'm very happy with it. I think the price is good for a cast iron grate of this size.

Specifications were correct to the size, item weight, and construction features of the grate.However the finish of the metal in the display pictures for the 12x12 (30cm x 30cm) are misleading. The display images feature a smooth finish and what appears to be a heat or chemical blackening, as well as recessed or blank areas for the weight rating markings on the exterior surface.The actual product is very roughly finished, with a coarse sand-cast texture and fresh black spraypaint finish that is questionably durable and has thick gobs of paint splattered in areas. Large raised lettering on the exterior side of the grate, and pronounced unusable screwheads cast directly into the underside.Frankly, at this price ($20.66) it's not bad and will fill the need it's intended for, the rough sand-cast texture could even be a benefit for traction, but if you're expecting exactly what is pictured in the product images you'll be a little disappointed. 4/5 overall

This was the perfect solution for a low spot in my yard where the sprinkler valves are located! The depression was easy to overlook and had become an annoying tripping hazard. This grate covers the opening while still allowing access and drainage—no more accidentally stepping into a hidden hole!This thing is seriously substantial. The cast iron is incredibly heavy duty and feels like it should hold up to years of outdoor exposure and foot traffic without flexing or shifting. The open grate design also means water can continue to drain freely instead of creating a new problem by covering the area.I love finding a simple solution to a longstanding annoyance, especially when the solution feels this durable. My yard is safer, the sprinkler valves remain accessible, and I no longer have to remember where that sneaky hole is every time I walk through the area. Perfect!
