Good price for an adjustable dead latch.I wanted a dead latch to upgrade an older latch for a backdoor. This is a great replacement, and the adjustable backset increases the chances of it fitting greatly. If you measured the backset correctly (or simply take out the old latch to measure) installation is easy. Only snag might be the plate that might need to be chiseled out.So far I am happy with the quality. Not using the tiny screws that came with it, but everything else looks great.

I was about to lose my mind with a door that frequently flew open because it would not latch correctly. I decided to try this latch just to see if it might correct the problem, and it did! I was dreading the installation, but it was actually very simple and easy to do. Everything lined up perfectly with the door handle I already had, but I would honestly suggest taking apart your door handle first just to make sure the inside looks the same. This latch seems to be good quality, and is much better than the one it replaced! My door now shuts smoothly and my sanity is saved. It even comes with the plate for the door frame, and it’s wrapped in a clear piece of plastic to prevent scratches during shipping.

This door latch is very sturdy. The brass looks good with the black. However, once installed, you're not really going to see the brass part. Speaking of installing, installation was easy and it comes with the hardware that you need. Best of all, if fit my door perfectly.

I ordered this new latch because my door was not staying closed when we shut it. This worked perfectly once I changed it out. The kit also came with a plastic piece to help prevent break-in’s that was optional to use. I did want that piece attached. So I did have to chisel out a small amount of wood so I could get that to fit behind the new latch. I think for the price there is great value in just that small extra piece. Be sure when choosing your replacement you buy the latch for the proper door handle you have on the door weather it has a key lock or not. It’s very important that you pick the right one or it will not fit.

This is a standard door latch, adjustable for either 23/8 or 23/4 backsets. These sizes will cover most residential doors. Construction appears on par with what you might find locally, but the price is significantly less, making this, subjectively at least, a better value. Installation is simple for replacement projects where there is already an existing latch in place. For new installations you'll need to understand how to properly measure and choose the appropriate backset. I'd expect this to last at least as long as the local alternatives, as construction appears similar.
