My LVP flooring has been installed for a few years, and several gaps have gradually opened up between the planks. I’ve tried kicking the boards back into place, which works okay sometimes, and I’ve tried the tape-and-kick trick. That sort of works too, but neither method did a particularly good job on the larger gaps that kept bothering me.This tool, on the other hand, was fantastic. It arrived assembled and ready to use. I literally removed the protective film from the adhesive pad, set the tool on the plank, and gave it a few taps with the mallet. A gap I had been looking at for months was completely closed in about 10 seconds.I used the same adhesive pad on five different areas of my floor, and it continued gripping without any obvious loss of effectiveness. The kit also includes a second pad for whenever the first one eventually wears out. I haven’t needed it yet.The tool has a solid, heavy iron build that feels made to take repeated mallet impacts. At $29.99, it was absolutely worth it to fix several irritating gaps without continuing to kick the floor or fight with tape. Even if I had used it for only the one gap that bothered me for months, I would still consider it a great value. Excellent tool and excellent value.

This floor gap fixer tool is remarkably heavy-duty and easy to use. The matte-finished iron block feels solid, and the extra-sticky pad grabbed onto my vinyl planks firmly without leaving any residue behind. I was able to close up several annoying gaps in the flooring with just a few taps of the included rubber mallet. The noise-free felt pad on the bottom is a great touch that kept my floors completely scratch-free during the repair. The size is pretty good. I purchased a different one, and this one is a bit heavier. This is a good value for the money, and the stability is good for longer and thicker panels.

This is solidly constructed, feels durable and substantial. It attaches securely enough, and worked well for a few seams I had. But it only really works for the ends, if you have planks that have a gap along the long edge, this doesn't really work (as far as I can tell), because it's wider than the plank. But looking at the instructions, it's really only meant for closing gaps on the ends.

If you have laminate flooring you probably need this tool. When you get a seam that opens up between two pieces of flooring this tool will help you close up the gap again making your floor look great again. I think that because most flooring has to move due to expanding and contracting you'll always have some seams that open up a little. What's nice about this kit is that everything is included. I like that this tool is double ended so if you need to slide your flooring either way for any reason you don't have to unstick it and turn it around. The ends that you strike with the included mallet have a felt like material on them for helping with any noise. I like that the sticky pad under the tool is washable for the next use or if it gets dirty and I definitely recommend wiping your flooring clean before setting the tool in place. Now just push down a little on the tool handle and tap the end on the direction needed. Easy Peasy. They also included an extra sticky pad just in case or if you wear out the original pre-installed one. The included mallet works fine but if you find yourself needing a little more force you can always use a bigger one if you have one. This tool seems well made and I think if you take care of it and store it properly it should last for a very long time. This tool helps solve an on going problem for me and I'm glad that I have it and I have no problem recommending it to others and I think that they will agree. The price seemed to be very fair when I ordered mine but at the time of this review I saw it discounted some.

I do think this product design has a very good form factor and very applicable both for action and storage.The design is simple and portable unlike some other busy, bulky product. Although, I am not sure how long the sticky pad will last since we have only a smaller job to finish. What I did was washing the sticky pad, reapply the original film and store it back to the plastic bag before putting it in the storage. I hope it will work the same after awhile.The rubber mallet is perfect size for the purpose.

While I initially thought this tool would be good at fixing small gaps in a vinyl floor, a more pressing need presented itself and this tool excelled.My front porch is made of engineered plastic deck boards screwed into the supports from in between the boards. I had several boards which were not properly mounted and so the ends were uneven and to resolve this you's normally have to remove boards from the edge until you get to the board that needs adjusting.Not with this handy tool, you don't! I placed the sticky surface of the tool on the board, applied some pressure and then hit it with the included rubber mallet and the boards moved into position nicely.I know this isnt the intended use, but this tool saved me so much time.The tool itself came with an extra sticky pad and was good hefty quality. A high quality rubber mallet was also included.Next, I'll tackle my laminate floor, but this decking usage surprised me.

I purchased the version of this floor gap repair tool that comes with the rubber hammer. I specifically chose that option because I felt the included hammer would be more appropriate for the job than using a regular household hammer around finished flooring. After using the kit, I still think that was the better choice. The hammer is a useful part of the set, and I like that the heads can be swapped out if needed. It gives you some flexibility and makes the kit feel more complete.I used this on my floating floor to correct a gap between the boards. The kit comes with an adhesive pad that you place on the floorboard before positioning the metal tool. The pad provides the grip needed to transfer the force from the tool to the board. I appreciate that this approach does not require pulling up the flooring or trying to pry at the edges of the planks. For a relatively inexpensive tool, it provides a practical way to address a common problem with floating floors.The overall concept is simple, but the actual process is not quite as easy as “attach it and hammer.” It takes a fair amount of coordination to get the adhesive pad placed correctly, position the tool in the direction the board needs to move, keep everything properly aligned, and then strike the tool with the hammer. You have to hold the tool steady with one hand while using the hammer with the other, and you also need to pay attention to the direction and amount of force you are applying.There was some trial and error before I found the right positioning and technique. The tool does not automatically move the board just because the pad is attached. You still have to make sure the pad has good contact with the flooring and that your strikes are controlled and directed correctly. I found that taking my time and checking the alignment before each attempt worked better than trying to rush through it. Once I got everything positioned correctly, the tool did what it was supposed to do and worked on my floating floor.The included rubber hammer is definitely a positive. I felt more comfortable using it than I would have felt using a normal metal hammer, particularly since I was working around finished flooring. The ability to change the hammer heads is another nice feature, even if it may not be something everyone uses immediately. It is still helpful to have that option included.For the price, I think this is a good kit. It includes the floor gap tool, the adhesive pad, and a hammer suited to the task, so I did not have to gather several separate items before starting the repair. It ultimately solved the problem I purchased it for, which is the most important thing.The process requires more coordination and patience than the description suggests. I would not call it difficult once you understand how to position everything, but I also would not describe it as completely effortless. Expect to spend a little time getting used to the tool, especially during the first repair. Overall, it is a useful and affordable solution for gaps in a floating floor, and I am satisfied with the result.

I had the option to glue my laminate and hardwood floors when installing, but I decided against it and so now when the temperature or humidity changes my floors shift and leave gaps.I had initially fixed this by using a chunk of 2x4 and some double sided tape. It did the job but it went through a lot of double sided tape and was a little low and tough to strike squarely.This kit is a significant upgrade. The sticky pad it comes with grips onto smooth and textured plank surfaces without slipping or leaving adhesive residue behind. I'd highly recommend vacuuming and wiping down the area you're going to work on so that the pad doesn't pick up dust and dog hair.The iron striking block feels solid in the hand and has a good weight to it, so when you hit it with the included mallet, the force transfers straight into the plank instead of bouncing off.The one benefit of a chunk of 2x4 over this is that I don't need to find a forever storage location for a 2x4 chunk. I also don't need to remember where I stored the chunk and have to order another 2x4 chunk when I can't find it but have gaps in my floor to fix. The sticky pad, while nice is likely not going to have a long life and I'll be back to wasting a ton of double sided tape.Overall, a great option for continually fixing the shifting floor board issue. It might be best to get flooring you love, glue your floors down and make sure you move before you have to pull them up.
