This reinforcement and strike plate is made from thick stainless steel and feels much stronger than a standard lightweight strike plate. It provides additional support around the latch area, which is often one of the weakest points in a door setup. The black finish looks clean and coordinates well with dark door hardware. The included Torx screws provide a more secure installation than basic short screws, particularly when they are driven into solid framing.Correct sizing is essential, so the 1-3/4-inch door thickness and 2-3/8-inch backset should be confirmed before ordering. Some doors may also require minor fitting or chiseling. Once installed properly, the plate sits neatly, reinforces the lock area, and gives the door a more substantial feel.

I used this for an older door that wasn't quite as solid as some of the more modern ones. It has worked well for me so far. I think perhaps the weak point for most door system is the door jam, so for me most of the value was in the elongated side plate more than the area around the lock. It definitely feels more secure. There are so many doors out there, it's hard to say if this will fit every option out there, but I consider my door to be a pretty standard size and it worked fine. This one only had a single knob on it. I haven't measured other doors but if you have a door knob with a deadbolt above it, I feel like this may not work. Make sure to measure your setup before you commit. The finish is nice and seems durable. Was easy to install. No complaints.

My door was forcibly open some time ago and it misaligned the strike area. It couldn't latch anymore with the original strike plate; this ended up being the cheapest fix and a noticeable esthetic improvement. It works well at filling in any gaps between your door and the side wall. That gives the door a tighter close. You don't have to cut a hole for the strike plate to be embedded in the wall. It's designed to be on top.It has these unique screws that are included with drill bits. Using a drill is easier but not required. I used a nail and hammer for the hole. Then I used the drill bit with one of those strew drivers that has the interchangeable heads, to screw in those unique screws. When you receive this door reinforcement and strike plate, you won't receive any instructions. Yet the install is very simple and straight forward. However, the listing includes the instructions if needed.

Most burglaries are committed by simply kicking the door which causes the strike plate to fail or the door to split apart which defeats the deadbolt lock. This inexpensive kit solves both of those problems for around $15. The main part is the door reinforcement plate which is made from about 1mm thick stainless steel. This makes is much more difficult to pry the door open and prevents the door from splitting. The other piece is a very large six hole strike plate which is also made of stainless steel. They include stainless screws for the installation and the screws that are visible on the door plate have security Torx bit heads. They include the two Torx hex bit drivers for installation. All you need to do is remove your lock, drill a few pilot holes and install the screws. This design fits most standard wood exterior doors but you do need to measure to make sure the lock is the correct distance from the edge and ensure the plate or the strike plate won't interfere with the door knob or latch. This is a very nice and well made product for the price. Installing this and making sure you have a quality deadbolt lock will greatly increase the amount of force required to gain entry. Just make sure that your deadbolt has a one inch throw, that is that the locking part of the deadbolt extends one inch from the door when in the locked position. The reason the strike plates fail is because the only thing holding them in place are two 3/4" screws into a 3/4" piece of pine wood. Replacing those with 3" screws will greatly increase the strength of your door locking system. This also acts as a visual deterrent by letting anyone clearly see that the door has been reinforced.

Build Quality & DesignThe standout feature of the Ftyokmi U9586 is its value for the price. Unlike flimsy aluminum or thin steel alternatives commonly found at big box hardware stores, this unit is crafted from 2mm hardened stainless steel. Tipping the scales at a hefty 1 lb 8 oz. It feels exceptionally solid in the hand. The machining is clean with smooth, deburred edges that won't scratch during installation. Furthermore, the finish is durable. It's available in both silver and black, and can easily be painted over to match custom door trim.Security & Installation Features# 1. Anti Tamper Hardware IncludedFtyokmi provides tamper resistant pin in Torx security screws along with dedicated T20 and T25 screwdriver bits. Pay close attention to screw placement. You must match the non security screws to the countersunk holes in the plate assembly to ensure a flush finish, while using the tamper proof screws where anti disassembly protection is needed most.# 2. Oversized 7 7/8" Strike PlateStandard OEM strike plates are relatively small, making the door jamb the weakest link during a kick in attempt. The oversized 7 7/8" strike plate disperses impact force across a wider area of the door frame. While the kit includes standard length hardware, if you want maximum security, consider replacing the frame screws with 3 inch to 4 inch wood screws anchored directly into the wall studs behind the jamb. The cutout on the strike plate is quite large. It works best with single bolt setups (deadbolts). Exercise caution if using this with entry locksets featuring a deadlatch mechanism, as an overly large opening can prevent the deadlatch pin from engaging properly.# 3. Cosmetic Repair CapabilityBeyond security, this kit is an excellent, cost effective fix for cracked, splintered, or gouged doors. The U shaped wrap covers wood cracks around the knob hole, while the extended strike plate conceals ugly woodwork, worn latch slots, and damaged jambs.Critical Compatibility RequirementsBefore buying, you MUST measure your door setup. This kit is not a universal fit and will fail if your door does not meet the following exact specifications:1. Door Thickness: Must be exactly 1 3/4 inches (44.5mm).2. Backset: Must be 2 3/8 inches (60.3mm) from the edge of the door to the center of the lock hole.3. Lock Configuration: Designed exclusively for single bolt systems. It will not fit doors with integrated dual/twin bolt arrangements.Pros:* Heavy Duty Construction: Thicker and noticeably heavier (1.5 lbs) than many big box store competitors.* Comprehensive Hardware Kit: Includes specialized tamper proof Torx screws and two driver bits (T20/T25).* Cosmetic: Effectively conceals splinters, cracks, and improper mortising on doors and jambs.* Great Value: Good protection for and economy price.Cons:* Strict Fit: Incompatible with 1 3/8" doors, 2 3/4" backsets, or dual hole locksets.* Strike Plate Screw Length: Included frame screws are decent, but longer screws (3"+) are recommended for deep stud anchoring.* Deadlatch Limitation: Large strike opening is optimized for deadbolts rather than spring latches with deadlatch pins.Final VerdictThe Ftyokmi U9586 Door Reinforcement Kit is a decent DIY security upgrade and door repair solution for the price. It thoughtfully includes security hardware (complete with bits), and clean aesthetic lines. As long as your door meets the required 1 3/4" thickness and 2 3/8" backset dimensions, this kit is a value upgrade or repair.

I ordered this specifically for a house we’re about to close on and completely demo and renovate. The existing exterior door was in pretty sorry shape when we did our walkthrough, and since we’ll be changing the locks as soon as we close, I wanted something that would also reinforce the door and give us a little extra security during the renovation. This looks like the perfect solution. The reinforcement plate is substantial, sturdy, and feels very well made. I also like that the kit includes the strike plate, screws, and Torx bits needed for installation. It certainly doesn’t feel flimsy or lightweight. We’ll eventually replace the existing door, but I’m impressed enough with this that I may install it on the new door as well for the added reinforcement and security since my young adult daughter will be moving in once the Reno is completed. Exactly what I was hoping for and an excellent find for our renovation.
