We have several outbuildings on our property with the roofing having the screws right through the face of the metal. While the original screws do have a small rubber material gasket to keep the building sealed from leaks, but over the years those gaskets start to deteriorate from the heat and sun so we were looking for something help keep those screws from leaking over the coming years without having to replace all the screws or seals. These caps are a great way to help prevent the roof from leaking in the future. These caps don't include any kind of glue or sealer to install them, but we have found that just using a small bead of silicone caulk worked easily to install these over the screws. Originally we started using them bare metal but I think we are going to paint them going forward so the blend in a little better with the current roof color. Overall, we are very happy with these to help keep our buildings sealed and protected from water leaks for years to come.

This pack of 50 domed stainless steel screw caps can provide both a decorative and protective cover for roofing screws or other fastener that may benefit from extra protection. The domes are made from 304 stainless steel which has great rust resistance and is generally non-magnetic. However, because of the crystalline structure of this type of metal, it can regain some magnetism when bent or pressed into shapes. These appear to provide good protection but their use may generally be more decorative as most roofing screws or fasteners will already be corrosion resistant. If you need superior rust resistance, especially in environments exposed to salt, 316, which is a marine standard, is a better grade of stainless steel. I will probably find some craft use for these if I have any leftovers. You only get 50 covers so it may not be enough for larger jobs. Also, there are no instructions on how to fasten them but I put a bead of roofing sealant around the flange, and this has worked out just fine. At the current price of $14.95 for 50 pieces, I'll give these five stars.

Do you love you metal roof? We do and we love this extra protection. I have fixed many metal roofs leaks around the screw mounts. The rubber grommet on these screws ages (quicker than youd think) and become brittle especially when sitting in the full sun day after day. It’s bound to happen. When it does the small water leaks and rots out the wood underneath. If you’re luckily you catch it early but if not its a pain to remove a metal panel and patch the subroof. Just use these and solve the problem. It’s an easy install and will add a ton of life. Pro tip: Keep in mind ‘neutral-cure’ silicone is best for these caps because they maintain long-term flexibility and have UV resistance. Look at brands like DAP 100% Silicone Roof Sealant or GE Supreme. Look for labels that state "Neutral Cure" (sometimes listed as "Non-Corrosive" or "Safe for Metals"). Avoid "Acetoxy" or "Acid-Cure" silicone (which smell like vinegar), as the acetic acid released during curing can corrode metal fasteners and potentially void roof warranties. Pro tip2: Dont press too hard when sealing. You do not want to push-out all the sealant so it’s better to use a lighter touch and keep a good ring of sealant. These stainless steel screw caps are a convenient option for busted washers or rusted screws. They fit over standard hex head screws, and you just put a blob of caulk on the screw before placing. Once installed they sit flush and look much cleaner than bare screw heads.Rustproof claim holds up so far. No corrosion after a couple weeks of Tennessee weather. They also seal out water better than just relying on the washer alone. Pack of 50 is enough for a typical repair job or small section of roof.Easy, effective, no complaints.

I ordered these roof screw caps because our metal roof on the home our son is staying in is leaking in several areas where the initial screws were driven in too far. This has caused some slow leaking that was not immediately evident, but has at some point leaked enough to cause some rot where the screws screw in. We can not afford to replace his roofing currently, however, we have been reinstalling with bigger screws and these caps are going to be helpful in the areas that will eventually need new boards underneath to better protect the screw heads and washers from leaking and rotting further. I suspect this will buy us a few years and hopefully we can do more then. I am glad there is "something " that can be done at least temporarily to put off fully removing and repairing the boards underneath. These do require a roof adhesive to install.

These caps work great to cover and protect the screws we just installed on our new metal.pprch roof. They look good and were easy to place with the use of 5200. My only complaint is where you overlap the metal roof is a ridge and these are too wide to use in the screw at the top of the ridge on the overlap. I like the fact that they are stainless and will withstand the full sun liner than plastic. Covering the crews will help protect the rubber on each screw from dry rotting and causing a leak later on.

These caps couldn't have come at a better time. I have an r panel roof on my home and I'm having to replace some of the screws now. The rubber is giving out and some of them are just backing out by themselves so I've gotten a couple of leaks. This is a perfect solution for some of those screws that aren't biting as well as others. It's just a little extra assurance that they will not leak. Add a little silicone around them to stick them down. It's that easy. And when you need to access the screw again just pop it up with a putty knife. They are stainless steel so they should last a good long time. They look good on a galvanized non-painted metal panel. I'm sure that you could paint these also to fit your roof if you have a color. It is a cheap way of adding that little extra protection and to stop leaks where they stand. I highly recommend this product.

The pack includes plenty of pieces for small projects, and the metal feels more sturdier than the plastic alternatives. They fit standard roofing screws well, though it's a good idea to have silicone, or roofing caulk before ordering. Installation was okay, I thought these just snapped on but I was wrong. They do provide a clean, finished look while helping protect the screw heads from the elements. Overall, a practical product that does the job for routine roof maintenance.
