This is a two pack of filters for a 4.5"x10" whole house filter canister. These fit perfectly in a standard filter canister of this size, and seal well. The filters seem to be well constructed, and appear to be of standard quality or better compared to others. Installation is easy on these type of filters, and is a straight remove and replace operation, that takes a couple of minutes tops. Both of these filters are the same, and each filter contains 3 different types of filtering agents. There is a 5 micron filter, to filter out sand, silt, sediment, and large contaminants, and an activated coconut carbon block filter for removing VOC's, along with some chemicals, bad odor and taste, and also a phosphate element that releases harmless phosphates into the water which can reduce, remove, and prevent future calcium buildup in your plumbing and appliances. I noticed no reduction in water flow downstream from this filter, and the water was clean and taste and odor free. If you only have a single canister whole house filter system, then this is a great choice, if you have well water, I would put a spin down sediment filter in front of this, as those are easily cleanable, most with an external knob, and will extend the life of this filter greatly. At the current price of about $40 for two of these they are a great value for the money, and I can recommend them.

Pureplus is a good brand for just about anything having to do with water filtration, and these filters are of the same high-quality I have realized from this brand in past.I have used numerous filters from other brands, and I feel very comfortable with Pureplus.These particular Scale Inhibitor & Sediment Filters I really terrific when you do not have multiple filtration canisters. These are very similar to what most companies would call a carbon block filter, but the design is slightly different. The filter does use activated carbon so you are getting great filtration of chlorine and chlorine. The functionality is very good. But one thing you need to know is that it will slow your gallons per minute rate down slightly due to the intense filtration.The fit is good for almost any 10 x 4.5“ canister and you will immediately notice a reduction of the chlorine odor in your tapwater. Installation is extremely simple. Just be sure to run water through the filter cartridge for a good five minutes before putting it into use in your household system.This is a great value for the money, and this particular filter will screen out settlements and chemicals simultaneously.

I just bought a new water heater, and to try and maintain a long life as possible, I'm trying out this scale inhibitor filter. I have particularly hard water, and eventually the internal scale buildup degraded my old tank irreparably. I have this filter paired with a sediment filter on the intake line, and I dont notice any drop in water pressure. Installation was a breeze since my housing was the standard 10x4.5. I don't generally drink hot tap water so I can't really talk on that, but so far I'm pretty happy. I think there's a lot of value here considering I'd rather buy filters regularly than buy another water heater.

I've used PUREPLUS whole-house filters before with good results, and these fit a standard 10" x 4.5" Big Blue housing perfectly. Installation is easy, they seal well, and I haven't noticed any significant loss of water pressure.This filter combines 5-micron sediment filtration, activated carbon for chlorine, taste and odor, and phosphate media intended to help reduce scale buildup.The build quality is solid and the two-pack is a good value. I can't really verify how effective the scale-inhibiting portion is without long-term testing, but overall, it's a convenient all-in-one replacement filter that works well.

I have had this filter in for several weeks now and the water is clear, odor free, and the taste is crisp. Sometimes with filters of this style the pressure in the house suffers but not in this case. The pressure is still strong in even the furthest shower. The price you pay for these higher filtering filters is about what you would pay for a simple paper filter so the value is high. We installed this on a well system where we do have issues with scaling. I have not yet noticed any improvement there but to be fair the ad does state for well systems you should use a different filter they offer.The filter was a direct fit and easy to install.

I was glad to discover these 3-stage filters on Amazon. I plan on using one of them in a system without a water softener, yet still want to condition the water and ensure that my pipes remain scale-free.I’m not sure what “silica-phosphate” beads are. Perhaps they are polyphosphate beads for conditioning water or ceramic-polymer beads which use the TAC (Template Assisted Crystallization) method for conditioning water. Regardless, either one is a great way to go if you do not have or do not want a water softener for removing calcium and magnesium via ion exchange but you still need to prevent scale from forming. The nice thing about this type of filter is, though you have to replace it when it expires, you will never have to buy salt.The item information indicates these filters might not function well for well water. However, I think if one were paired with a filter containing KDF-85 filtration media or green sand, which greatly reduces iron and hydrogen sulfide, it should work very well. You would also get the benefit of making your water more biologically safe.One thing is for sure, your family and all of your appliances which use water, should reward you with much longer lives by reducing and/or removing the contaminants which shorten them.
Here’s my assessment of these filters thus far:✅ They install easily and should seal well in any standard 4.5“ x 10” filter housing. Just drop them into that type of housing, add a little food-grade silicon grease to the O-rings, flush the filter for a few minutes, and you’re done.✅ They are said to filter 30,000 gallons. That’s impressive, but it is just an average. All will depend on the quality of your incoming water source.✅ They are capable of filtering down to 5 microns—nice for a 3-stage, all-in-one type filter.✅ The nice thing about these filters is: they incorporate 3 stages. When filtering municipal water, they will effectively reduce sediments, chlorine, chloramines, many VOCs, foul tastes and odors, and the magnesium, calcium, and other minerals which cause scale. For that reason, if I only had one filter in my whole house system, it would be one of these.✅ They are labeled as food safe, lead and BPA-free.✅ I weighed them, and they are fairly hefty (see picture), indicating to me that they contain a good amount of activated coconut carbon and sediment filtration media.❌ Though they are said to be food safe, lead and BPA-free, no independent laboratory testing is provided which would confirm compliance with NSF/ANSI standards. For that reason alone, I am rating them 4-stars instead of 5. That said, this one thing doesn’t prevent me from recommending them. I have other PUREPLUS filters which are independently tested that I like very much. In the past, I have also interfaced with the company and they proved very helpful. So, a thumbs-up from me so far.

I ordered this PUREPLUS 10 x 4.5 whole house scale inhibitor and sediment filter for my GXWH40L system and it has been a solid upgrade over a basic sediment filter. It fits perfectly with no issues installing and functions and seals up well in the housing.What I like most is that it does more than just catch dirt and debris. It also helps with scale buildup, which is a nice bonus if you have harder water. After running this for a bit, I’ve noticed less buildup on fixtures and appliances compared to using a standard sediment filter alone.Another thing I noticed is an improvement in water odor. It does not completely eliminate every smell, but it definitely helps make the water smell cleaner and more neutral, especially when running taps after the water has been sitting.Water flow has stayed strong and consistent, and it doesn’t seem to restrict pressure at all. It still does a good job catching sediment like sand and rust, which is exactly what I expect from a whole house filter.Build quality feels good and comparable to other PUREPLUS filters I’ve used. It has a solid weight to it and doesn’t feel cheaply made.Overall this is a great value option if you want a little extra protection beyond basic filtration. It handles sediment while also helping reduce scale and improve odor, which makes it worth it for me.

I've been using different models of PurePlus filters for several years now. They have many different variants for a given size, so there are still many I have not tried. Every model I've tried has fit perfectly in standard 4.5" filter housings and they are of course equally easy/difficult to install as any given counterpart. I started purchasing PurePlus because of the value compared with more expensive brands, but I've stayed because of the quality over the years.While having so many options can be confusing, I really appreciate that the model numbers are quite descriptive once you sort out what the abbreviations represent.In the case of this PP10BB-CC-PHO filter:* PP = polypropylene (the firm white outer filter shell, designed to filter sediment etc)* 10 = 10" height* BB = big blue AKA the 4.5" large filters (I believe the 2.5" filters simply omit any letters here)* CC = chlorine and carbon (filters out chlorine and other undesirable tastes)* PHO = phosphate (this model has phosphate crystals that dissolve over time and theoretically protect the insides of your pipes, water heater, etc from the buildup of mineral scale)I have used the non-phosphate PP10BB-CC many times with good result. I am not equipped to make any claim about the effectiveness of the phosphates, but I can at least say this model works as well as the standard PP10BB-CC and COULD offer additional pipe/appliance protection. In one situation we unfortunately had a considerable about of red clay sediment in the water source, and the PP shells didn't seem to cake up as badly as the pleated paper models.I personally prefer a dual-filter setup for most situations, in which case this makes a great Filter #1 (the filter the water reaches first), as it is 5 microns. If you are using a 1 micron filter in such a setup, place it in the #2 position so it may clog less quickly. While this model has some carbon inside, the black carbon filters (with coconut shell etc) can be more effective on particularly tenacious tastes if this one doesn't do the trick. I've used the CTO10BB for such situations with good result.
