I actually didn’t mind that the diverter on the bottom spout of my walk-in shower tub had been broken and water had been leaking out for quite some time. That is because it would only leak a little bit of water, so there wasn’t a noticeable drop in pressure from the top spout, which the handheld shower is attached to. It was one of those spouts where the diverter was a turn-style lever that allowed you to finely adjust it. With it, you could even have water come out of both the top and bottom spouts at the same time.However, none of my family members ever used the diverter to have water coming out of both spouts. So, when the diverter finally broke and water only came out of the bottom spout, I started researching replacement spouts. I learned that a pull-style gate works more like an either-or switch. The water either comes from the bottom spout or is redirected to the handheld shower. There is no need to rotate a lever and leave it in a partly open position, which is how my previous lever worked. Because it is a simpler way of controlling the water, I figured it would be less likely to give me the same problem in the future. So, when I saw this replacement spout, it matched the type I wanted.Since my house and plumbing are old, I was glad that the spout came with several different fittings. And I was able to find the one that matched my existing pipe. So, I didn’t need to replace any of the piping and installation was very easy because of it. There is also a metal ring with a rubber gasket that covered the opening around the pipe, which was really good for me because the opening looked terrible.After I turned the water back on, the diverter worked exactly how I wanted. Pulling it redirected the water to the handheld shower, and releasing it sent the water back through the lower spout. Most importantly, there was absolutely no water leaking from anywhere.The metal body feels well-made and the chrome finish looks real nice. It’s definitely well worth its list price of $26, especially since it includes everything you need.

I ordered this tub spout because the shower diverter handle broke on the one in my shower. This tub spout provides several parts to make the installation fit most tubs. This spout can support slide on, or screw on options. This package included pipe thread tape so there is no need to purchase this separately. This package also includes a wall plate, which helps cover the hole and allow for adjustment from the wall if needed for your install. For my replacement, I unscrewed the existing tub spout since there was no set screw on the bottom. After the old one was removed, I put pipe thread tape on the pipe threads that were on the pipe sticking out of the wall and screwed the new spout on. I made it tight enough and then completed the final turn so that the spout was facing the correct direction. Overall, this installation was quick and easy. I would recommend this tub spout to anyone who is looking to replace theirs.
