I used these for a few copper tubing repairs, and they’ve performed well. The rods flow smoothly once everything is up to temperature and produce clean, strong joints with good penetration. The flat design is easy to handle, and the 15% silver content makes them work well for HVAC and refrigeration-style copper repairs.The included work gloves were a nice extra and came in handy while working. The rods were consistent in quality throughout the pack, and I didn’t run into any issues with brittleness or uneven melting.Overall, this is a solid value for anyone doing copper brazing, whether you’re making repairs on an air conditioning system or tackling other copper tube projects. For something to get started in welding, this is good that it comes with both the rods and gloves. Or for a general kit for the job site, even as a spare in a toolbox. Since this kit is small enough for a toolbox which is very good. As far as fire proof, I personally would try to avoid catching these gloves on fire as much as possible, even though with welding sparks fly a lot. Accidents do happen. They’re not the fire blanket material it says these are sheepskin, just a barrier. So very moderate heat resistance. Protection is better than nothing, but still having proper precautions and PPE such as the welding visor and thicker material. And having proper fire protocols in the workshop in general. The gloves are comfortable though. Not scratchy and they don’t slip off easily. Even for smaller hands they fit fine. The copper rods look genuine. There’s a good amount for a couple of spot repairs with a storage container for those rods to keep minimal tarnishing and oxidizing.
