This is a sturdy heat gun, with thick plastic outer casing. The heating end is metal, and has an end that is not open, but full of small holes, so not much could be set up against the heating element. This fits nicely in the hand. It has an easy, convenient on/off button with a lower heat and fan speed, and a higher heat and fan speed. A lot of heat comes off of this, so it has to used on a surface that will not melt or start to burn. There are many applications that this would work for. I actually used it to dry a piece of wet watercolor paper. I kept it moving the whole time, and the paper dried smooth and with no scorch marks. This is a good price, and its smaller size makes it easier to store.

I just received this Ferropeak 500W heat gun and have already tried it out. I used it to remove air bubbles from my 2-part epoxy projects I was finishing up and it performed beautifully!It heats up quickly and puts out a steady stream of hot air that works great for my intended purpose. You could also use it to shrink PVC, for various arts & crafts, embossing, drying paint faster, and general DIY things around the house.But, like I said, for my tasks, it’s just right. I love the directional nozzle attachment on the end. It easily snaps on and off. You can direct the heat in a concentrated area which is perfect for evaporating the air bubbles from my epoxy crafts. (I’m not making large projects just yet so, this is a great starter heat gun!)The 3.28 ft cable is long enough that I’m not constantly fighting the cord, which is huge!! It has a lil handy built-in stand so you can set it down safely while it’s still hot. Build quality feels decent for a budget tool. It’s nothing fancy, but it does the job without any issues.It’s lightweight and comfortable to hold for short sessions. So far, so good.It’s super simple to use & there’s no assembly required!! You plug it in, turn it on & you’re good to go!Again, this heat gun is only 500W, so if you’re used to a heavy-duty type heat gun that needs to be in constant use or you need it for a professional job site, this may not be a great choice for you.However, for crafting, wrapping and light DIY projects, it gets the job done and it’s well worth the price!Just a reminder:*LIKE ALL HEAT GUNS, THIS GETS EXTREMELY HOT!
