We love the industrial look, but not the oil coating of true hardware. Instead, this bar gives us the look we want without any mess. The bar is pleasantly light-weight from being hollow. The end-plates seem to be attached well, and there are three holes on each side to mount the bar to the wall securely.The loss of a star is really the loss of two half stars:-What the description refers to as a matte, non-slip surface includes a few small burrs. I was startled to feel that the surface was not completely smooth in a few spots. It seems like hand-feel is an important quality in a grab bar. However, I am not deducting a full star since it is marketed as a towel bar / hanger and our plant hooks won’t care.-The second issue is that the included hardware is sufficient for our purpose; however, the screws are shorter and smaller than we would have expected for a grab bar. The main reason for the deduction is that they are brass-colored. Upon checking the images carefully, I see that some are shown as black and some have other finishes. I simply covered them with a dab of craft paint to make them blend in with the black finish, but it is something to be aware of if you are not crafty and want things to match.

I don't know why I like this so much but I do.I put it next to a short staircase with a door at the top. People can grab it while they reach for the doorknob. It changes the experience of the stairs quite a lot, it a good way!I can think of a few other places I'd like to put these.It is quite well made. I feel certain I could do chin-ups (If I could do chin-ups) on it. Nice thick metal that has quality welds onto the baseplates. Speaking of the baseplates, they're disks, not rings so I think it will be stronger... plus water can't get into the handle itself and rust out from the inside. I'd be happy to put this handle outside.The hardware could be a bit better. It has some expanders for installing this into concrete and I suppose the screws could be good for a wood install. (Be really careful and don't just hang this on drywall). I used some longer screws with deeper threads and I think you should too. The included screws could be fine though.

I recently added a banister to one side of the steps leading up from ground level to the deck. Trouble was, the piece of walnut I had to use for the banister wasn't quite long enough, and so I had to end it a bit short of the bottom step. This wall mount grab bar was perfect to provide an extra hand hold, if anyone felt the need for it, on the side of the first post, just before the banister began. I mounted it vertically on the post, and it looks very well there; the black finish is unobtrusive and blends in well. It is very sturdy mounted with the supplied screws, and gives a stable handhold for anyone needing a bit of extra support making that first step up. I am confident that the black finish will last, and due to the stainless steel material, I am not at all concerned about future rusting.

Full disclosure, I am not using this for its intended purpose. While marketed as a grab rail, I’m using it as an oversized door handle - so it’s at least in the neighborhood of the scope of the product.First, it’s very lightweight. That doesn’t mean flimsy, as it hold its shape when I put my whole weight on it - I like to stress test stuff that I think might break before committing to an installation. But it passed with flying colors. So it’s light AND rugged.The color is exactly as pictured, but I’m not too sure what makes it “industrial” - the paint is smooth, there’s no exposed threading, and it’s all a single piece.The mounting hardware they provide you with is adequate, but as always, make sure you install it properly and flush to a wall and use a stud if you can. This is meant to be used as a grab bar, and you don’t want it flying out of the wall when you need it.True to the dimensions in the description and the photo of the item, it’s a decent rail.However, it is a bit pricey compared to other similar grab rails. That said, this one supports my full weight, and I can’t speak for the others.

I didn't know I wanted this until I saw it. My attic has pull down stairs. It has a hand rail along it, but once you clear the attic floor, you're on your own. Going up isn't too bad but lowering yourself down those first few steps before you get to the hand rail... I would grab a rafter for stability.Well what do you know. This handle screwed into that rafter just so and now there's actually something there that's meant to hang on to! Just worked perfectly. More comfortable than the rough rafter. Safer. A no brainer!Kit comes with six screws and six anchors. I didn't need the anchors. Just screwed it directly into the wood.One minor drawback. The flange around the handle ends is a hair narrow. Screw holes are close to the handle and make it hard to use a drill to screw the screws in. Its totally doable. But could have been a little easier if the flange was just a bit bigger and the holes further from the handle. Just a little more clearance would have been nice. And maybe some brands or styles of drill won't squeeze in there at all, I don't know. Just sayin'.But all in all, it does the job and I didn't even know I needed it!

I bought this with a different purpose in mind than the typical grab bar installation, and it worked out perfectly. I mounted it to the side of a rolling workbench and use it as a push/pull handle to move the bench around my shop.The construction is solid and surprisingly heavy-duty for the price. I'd definitely buy another one for future projects.

I used it on the outside of a shed's door. The shed requires a step up of about 6 inches, and I am a senior citizen, so I was using the door frame to pull myself in. This grab bar is much safer and offers a better handhold.My neighbor installed the grab bar and at first attached it to the plywood sheet of T1-11 that makes up the wall of the shed. It instantly tore out because the sheet is very thin. He used longer screws and installed the grab bar onto the trim around the door frame, with the longer screws extending beyond the trim and into the door frame. This holds well and works great for keeping the grab bar securely in place.The black color is stylish, and it is advertised as suitable for indoor or outdoor use, so I expect it will look fine in the future as well.For about $18, this is a good value for money. Functional and stylish.
