These seem well made, if a bit bigger than anticipated. However, having just installed small rib metal roofing on an outbuilding, I'm a little confused as to how these are "waterproof" out of the package and without some sort of sealant or gasket. Yes, the dome deflects water from above, but the real need is for the water FLOWING OFF the roof, which can easily stream under these caps nullifying any claim of being waterproof. Even in the product photos (which, admittedly, I have only now spent more time examining while writing this review), you can see gaps between the cap and roof surface. So, I guess I'm confused by the intent. In certain situations, with a good sealant, these might provide some protection or help with leakage. If you're using the correct screws (with gasketed washers) these are irrelevant.

These could not have come at a better time. We have a tin roof and often we get leaks around the screw heads when there is a driving rain. I attached these easily and will probably need quite a few more so I will be ordering some in the near future. The fact they are rust proof will be a big bonus. They thoughtfully provide gloves for installation to protect your hands. With the forecast looking pretty grim and a possible excessively wet winter for my region, I will be needing these but lets hope they are mistaken. I am thinking the tin roofs in my area are a fire preventative as many homes seem to have them. Thank you for reading my review.
