I got this pipe reamer to replace one I damaged in a different set. I've used this 1-1/2 inch reamer to remove damaged SCH40, PVC and ABS pipe from joint hubs. It fits properly in a 1/2" drill chuck. The head seats snugly inside of the pipe so there isn't a lot of play or wobble which would remove too much material. The bit cuts clean through pipe and adhesive leaving a smooth surface for new pipe. The bit has a cutting surface on all 4 sides which is convenient for keeping a sharp edge at all times. All you have to do is rotate the head 90 degrees. This is a nice feature that I don't have on several of my other reamers. The aluminum head is durable and cools quickly. It has an anodized finish that is easy to clean.

I’m in the middle of a bathroom remodel. I’ve never used one of these reamers before, but it is invaluable to be able to cut and clean out a pipe from a fitting, in situ, preparing it for the new pipe. What a time and headache saver!…I’m not at a point in my project where I need this tool, but I tested in on a scrap pipe, and it works like a charm. Shaves a tidy flat edge on the pipe end. …It leaves just a paper-thin remnant rim around the perimeter, but I assume that is to avoid damaging the wall of the host fitting.I’m delighted to add this valuable, time-saving, Bartoo PVC reaming tool to my tool kit.

This PVC pipe framer has been on my diy tools short list for a while. Our basement uses 1.5 sch 40 for smaller drains and vent lines. We also have 3" waste lines - I'm on the lookout for a deal on this kind in 3". There are great for reusing those ovc fittings, and it has a home on mu workbensch. Easy to use, multiple cutting sides by rotating the insert to fresh sides. Pretty cool to have in your kit. Perfect for a homeowner, not sure how it would hold up professionally. Bright pink, won't lose it, and saves an old fitting if I can use it.

I'm an avid DIYer and do all my own plumbing work, so I've accumulated a fair bit of plumbing tools over the years. While it's not a routine occurrence, I have in the past needed a tool like this fitting saver and I've had to make do with other less than ideal makeshift solutions including cutting and chiseling out the pipe from a fitting so that I don't have to open up a wall and cut out and replace the entire fitting. Once you've been there, you'll realize how valuable a tool this is.Basically, the outside cutting diameter of the tool is the same size as the outside diameter of the pipe (in the case of the tool I ordered, it's sized for standard 1-1/2" PVC or ABS pipe). The inner guide of the tool is sized to just fit into the inside diameter of the pipe. First, cut the pipe off, flush with the face of the fitting. Then you chuck this reamer into your drill (make sure you have a beefy drill), spin up the drill and slowly press the reamer into the fitting (don't apply too much pressure--let the cutter do its work). The inner guide keeps the tool aligned while the cutter shaves away the portion of the pipe that is glued into the fitting. Lastly, keep checking your progress to make sure you only remove the pipe and don't cut into the fitting where the pipe ends inside the fitting.The construction of this fitting saver is very good. The solid aluminum head (the red part) is nicely machined and anodized. The shaft that goes into the drill is stout. And I like that the cutter has four cutting edges, so when one edge drills, you just loosen the bolt holding the cutter and rotate it 90 degrees to get a new cutting edge. The necessary hex wrenches are included for the bold holding the cutter blade as well as for holding the aluminum head to the shaft.Overall, this feels like a quality tool, and I know I'll be very glad it's in my tool box the next time I have to re-use an existing fitting with a new pipe.
