2387 Pro Filter Replacement

I got this as a replacement for my water filter setup, and although it's advertised as a replacement for the Alexapure 2387, it fits and works perfectly well in my Big Berkey. Installation was straightforward, with no tools or complicated setup required. I also ran the classic red dye test, and the filter passed it without any noticeable dye making it through. The flow rate has been good as well. Not so fast that it seems ineffective and not painfully slow.One interesting thing worth mentioning is that this appears to be the exact same filter as another third-party brand I purchased. Both filters arrived in the exact same packaging/box and appear identical, despite being sold under different brand names. That's not necessarily a problem, and this one has worked well for me, but it's something to be aware of when comparing listings.

I actually got one of these filters for free, so I figured I’d try it in my Big Berkey. I don’t really know much about the system they’re intended for, but I can tell you they fit the Berkey perfectly.The water tastes great, and the first thing I noticed was how much faster they filter. I don’t know if it’s because they have more surface area or what, but they definitely seem to move water quicker than my Berkey filters did.They only sent me one to try, but I liked it enough that I bought a second one with my own money. I think that says about all I need to say.I’ve seen a few people mention that these ship dry instead of wet like the originals. Mine did too, but that’s really not a problem. I just soaked each filter in purified water for about 30 minutes before installing them, and they worked perfectly.If you’ve got a Berkey or another countertop gravity filter that these fit, I think they’re a really good deal. They’ve worked great for me so far, and I’d buy them again.

I have attached simple proof that this filter does work as advertised. I have tried a couple of different makers filters and where they failed, this one works well. As you can see from the short video, the flow is almost a constant stream. I did the setup as they recommended from the start which included priming the filter which was a bit difficult but doable if you have the patience and don't mind getting a little wet if you don't seal the gasket properly.

I ordered this replacement filter for my Alexapure 2387 Pro water filtration system. It looks just like the original filter with the same black housing and overall design. However the original filters ship wet and have warnings against letting them dry out while these arrived completely dry which makes me wonder if there is some difference in the filter media or how it performs. Something of note is that it includes a brown rubber donut washer about 3/8 inch thick but there is no mention of its purpose in the instructions and the original filters do not include it. I have not installed it yet but based on appearance it seems well made. Overall this is a decent replacement filter for the price. I'm a little cautious about the dry shipping and the extra washer but I'm hopeful it will work fine once I get it in the system. Good value if it performs as well as the original. I'll update once I have used it for a while.

This filter functions in the Alexa pure and the water taste seems similar to the factory filters. I am still using these in my unit so not sure if they are a value for the money. The filtration speed on Alexa pure is slow and these do not increase or reduce the speed. The only difference in this unit and the one shipped from the factory is the factory one is water sealed and this one is dry. With that said I opted to not drink the first run of water to make sure it was clean. Is that necessary or not I’m not sure.
