Have a broken or breaking fence post but don’t have the money—or the desire—to replace your entire antique fence? Enter this little lifesaver.I used it to stabilize a damaged fence post, and it really works. The biggest tip I can give is to install it in this order: get the bottom half into the ground first, attach the top portion, and then secure it to the fence. I found that much easier than trying to assemble everything first and then wrestle the whole thing into place.Installation was surprisingly easy using that method, and once it was in place, this thing did exactly what I needed it to do. They were great exactly what I needed

I'm using these to support 9 foot tall 2x2 posts to carry an overhead wire to my shed temporarily. They have been up to the task so far. Wind and rain haven't adversely affected them. I needed to get power to my shed that's about 100 feet from my house. I planed to sink some treated 2x2's in the ground until I saw these. The installation was simple and it even included the fasteners needed for the task. I doubt they'd last for more than a few years but for my needs they're good. They have a very substantial looking finish on them so that should help with making them last longer. As with anything else, especially if you use them to repair fencing. They'll be affected by soil conditions for their ability to keep the fencing stable. If used correctly in good dry and stable soil they work great. As I said they're holding up to 81/2 to 9 foot 2x2's for me. If the get wobbly I'll add some guy wires maybe for winter snows.

There are a lot of fence post fix kits that share the same basic premise- two pieces joined by nuts and bolts. I've used many, and all of them had vertical connections. For this kit, it's unique in that two of the main bolts are horizontal. The other has a nut that is welded onto the postfix, which allows you to get a tight fit.And there are a lot of approaches to fixing fences. In my experience, being proactive is better than waiting until a post falls. This kit can be used to shore up posts that are shifting. I wouldn't recommend it for a post that has fallen over. At that point, post replacement is probably the best idea.The instructions were surprisingly comprehensive and easy to follow.The distance from the post isn't adjustable, but the connection is very sturdy between the two pieces. For my repair, I had an 8' post where the concrete extended over 3" from the post. That meant I needed more distance from the post to the postfix, so I used a leftover helper post, attached to the main post, and then attached the post fix to the helper post. This created a sturdy connection point.Getting the repair stake into the group took a sledgehammer as I was on the outside edge of the concrete.I used a wood block to avoid damaging the postfix. However, the result was excellent- the post didn't wobble at all.I recommend this kit, but as with any fix, be aware that you may need additional hardware other than the postfix kit, if you have posts in concrete.
